So. That's that then 21:18 - Sep 1 with 1394 views | FrimleyBlue | Bit of a mixed feeling really. No choice but to trust the manager but I do think even he will be annoyed that we didn't manage to bring in a defender this window. ( as someone pointed out williams. I just meant natural cb) Still feel we are light on that right hand side and if we lose hirst we lose that specific ability which we don't really have in any other striker. Now it's over tho. Time to enjoy the next few months and see what this side can do. Coyb [Post edited 1 Sep 2023 21:22]

A natural cb I meant of course.

So. That's that then on 21:25 - Sep 1 with 1301 views | WicklowBlue | We haven't seen DS play yet and have kept Ladapo (as of 21:23) who as we know has Championship experience and goals for a poor Rotherham team that season. Not sure why some are so quick in writing off existing players we have in the building. We all like shiny new objects but adding many of such could disrupt what we have. Time will tell... (P.S. I think it's natural for some to want better. They always say its about improving and not standing still. As I said yesterday we won't really know until 6 months time how well it's gone. Just initially it's been quite a surprising window. My thoughts on it specifically at this moment in time. Ds.. I think will be a star for us. Hutchinson.. I'm hoping he does. As yet I'm not sure Williams. I think he'll be important come 2nd half season Slicker.. future no.1 keeper in a couple years Taylor.. not quite sure how KM will utilise him as yet. Has come in at times and played various midfield roles. I do like him tho.

I don't think they will tbh. It's not a bad window. People will have their own opinions on where they'd want to improve but that's normal

I agree with you totally which maybe a first. Yes it's natural to want a super signing but then consider what spending say 4m on a player does to the squad. If we signed Simms for example, how does that impact Hirst, Jackson, Ladapo etc. I get the frustration from others, but I'd prefer us to go the Ipswich route and build the squad bit by bit and keep the squad ethos together. As others have posted we haven't lost any of the key parts of the promotion team and have added some strength. Williams is still getting up to speed as is Taylor and Hutchinson. We need to give them time and get minutes. At least we don't have to worry about an entire 11 gelling together. I think we have enough to build on and be competitive prefer that then ripping the heart out of the team. Gives us a chance to strengthen in Jan...

And yet, if one casts an objective eye over our dealings, it's still good. It's not like we lost one or two key players, for example. To be honest, given our approach and desire to sign the 'right' players for a change, there is always a risk you may not get the player(s) you want - our pool is naturally going to be smaller given what KM wants.

I just worry about the lack of championship quality beyond our first choice 11. Hence I was hoping for some more long term quality depth to be added, not short term kids who we will have to replace next season.
So. That's that then on 22:08 - Sep 1 with 981 views | TheBoyBlue | I think the squad we finished last season with is capable of making a decent fist of this league and I don't think there is any point on spending silly money on players who are unsure about coming to a newly promoted team. If we're doing alright come January, I imagine we might appeal to a few more targets.

So. That's that then on 22:15 - Sep 1 with 945 views | SlippinJimmyJuan | Be lying if I said I'm not a bit disappointed that we haven't got anything else done today. I trust the process though and if its a choice between making a signing for the sake of it, or not making one at all then I think we've gone the right way. The big positive is that Baggott and Humphreys will be part of the squad which should be of great benefit to their development. I hope we get to see more of them. Tuanzebe on trial is very interesting, hopefully he can show the right stuff as he could be a real asset. The window for us overall has felt quite slow. Nonetheless we've got our key men in Hirst and Taylor, and we've added exciting youth with Slicker, Hutchinson, Scarlett and Williams. We haven't lost anyone we wanted to keep, we've secured good loans for our prospects and extended the services of important figures in Luongo, Chaplin, Donacien, Aluko and of course, McKenna. My biggest criticism is that it seems like we were caught cold on the opening up of overseas markets compared to other clubs. I'm optimistic though that our relative caution now will pay dividends in January and beyond. Time to crack on, make the most of the great talent we have and see where it lands us.

So. That's that then on 22:17 - Sep 1 with 926 views | Dubtractor | Not gonna pretend I'm not disappointed we didn't sign a senior CB (yet anyway!), and it does leave us pretty thin for CB cover now, but other than that I think we are pretty well set. Strong first choice option for every position, plus more than able back up (not realistic to expect the same standard for all subs), and we've already shown that we can compete and score goals. COYB!

So. That's that then on 22:36 - Sep 1 with 845 views | Swansea_Blue | I think we needed an extra CB too (cover would have been fine), but that was assuming Baggott went out. If he’s now staying, we’re not in a bad place at all. (Ok, maybe we do still need someone if Edmundson’s performance in the cup is what we can now expect from him, but hopefully he can get back to where he was). A new better striker would be a nice luxury. I suppose we don’t really know where would have been best to add depth until the injuries hit. We had hundreds of CMs last year, but still ran out of them in December.
