So from 5 am in Spain....light pollution may scupper it from here. Is it very high above the horizon? N.E. is pretty much directly along the coastline from here so more East than North would be good.

I wanted to image this last night but it's just not possible from my latitude. It was too low in the sky when it rose and then low behind a building. Might have a better chance in a few days but it'll be gone fairly soon.

Hopefully you had more luck at your latitude. It was moving from NE to ENE so you might have caught it.

Quite. Though I thought I might as well enjoy it anyway, and did so - for once it was a real pleasure to take the pup out for his toileting at that hour - despite being too warm in T & old white long-sleeved away shirt! There wasn't a breath of wind.

When money was tight and the kids were young (1970s), we always took them on holidays in early/mid September around the Norfolk/Suffolk coast. Didn't have to ask permission to take them out of school in those days. Mostly we were very lucky with the weather.

That’s because they lived in a world much hotter than the one Guardian readers fret about today.

Yes. You try being a brontosaurus and living in a temperate climate still emerging from a recent ice age.

You try being a mesolithic hunter gatherer just emerging from an ice age. Wait a minute, do you think it's possible that all these heating events and ice ages may suggest that it's possible the earth may be prone to life changing episodes of climate change?

Climate is always changing and always has done. And always will

It’s 36 in the shade here today. Rather nice - but still ten degrees ‘colder’ than a couple of weeks ago

You are confusing climate with weather. Weather is variable. Climate takes a lot longer to change. We are rapidly accelerating changes in climate with disastrous consequences.

Think your getting a tad confused with the weather and long term climate change. Though you are correct that looking at the world over the long term ( say the last 6 billion years) the climate as changed severely many times. The big potential difference this time compared with any severe climate change event of the past is the actions of mankind and in particular our intense burning of fossil fuels now compared to anytime in the past.

The Brontosaurus lived in the Jurassic period, not one of the major ice ages.

No just pointing out that a few warm days are not necessarily anything to do with climate change

I’m expecting the guardian to link earthquakes with climate change soon. There appear to be a few more above average in the last couple of years.

"a few warm days are not necessarily anything to do with climate change".

What about the general tend of changes in the regular patterns of weather that is being experienced globally? Or because there have always been instances of flooding and wildfires, that general trend is to be ignored by the more expert than the experts Elephant?

These global climate changes are hitting the poorest countries worst. Try looking at what relief organisations have to say about them.

I am quite certain the OP wasn't saying this proves climate change but rather that this is just one of the minor impacts of climate change which is demonstrated much more clearly on a global scale as studied by the real experts in meteorology.
