I think they're reactionary religious fanatics akin to the Taliban.

So you can understand why a large number of the British Jewish community felt very scared when they heard a man who could be our a prime minister describe Hamas as above?

Until Netanyahu and his ilk are washed away by a saner brand of leadership in Israel, and until Hamas is disregarded in the same way as the IRA was in Northern Ireland, nothing will change. They’re so entrenched in their hatred and desire to completely destroy the other side, peace is not possible.

Unfortunately Hamas is more of a death cult than freedom fighters ( note their obvious disregard for Palestinians in the predictable Israeli response to their actions ). A better analogy for Northern Ireland would be Provos = Hamas and Official IRA = Fatah.

Unfortunately there seems to be much more support for Hamas within the Palestinians.
