Iran and Gaza 10:32 - Oct 11 with 5073 views | noggin | We are led to believe that Iran, in no small part, backed the recent Hamas invasion and rocket attacks on Israel. What I don't understand is how they achieve this. The only possible route for weapons is through the border with Egypt, which is 7 miles long. The Hamas terrorists were clearly heavily armed and thousands of rockets were fired in to Israel in the first 24 hours. I know there has been talk of tunnels but surely so much hardwear could not be smuggled over such a short border, without the full knowledge of the Egyptian authorities. If that is the case, surely Israel knows this and would coinsider Egypt complicit in the attacks? I mean, how are so many weapons getting into Egypt, unchecked, in the first place, let alone being smuggeled in to Gaza?

Iran and Gaza on 12:25 - Oct 11 by Pendejo | Smuggling is a very adaptable profession. There's always folks willing to accept blood money to look the other way, or are otherwise threatened. Members of British Army have been caught selling guns to likes of IRA, cocaine is illegal but many tons arrive in USA, UK and Europe every year, and thus the likes of ISIS and Hamas see also Iran, Russia and North Korea receive things they shouldn't. |

Iran and Gaza on 14:45 - Oct 11 with 1008 views | DJR | Interestingly, and according to Wikipedia, Qatar (as well as Pakistan and Turkey) are supporters of Hamas, but we still get Qatar Airlines adverts on Sky News. According to the following, Qatar is Hamas' most important financial backer and foreign ally. Qatari Emir Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani was the first state leader to visit the Hamas government in 2012, and so far, the emirate has transferred €1.5 billion ($1.8 billion) to Hamas. https://amp.dw.com/en/who-is-hamas/a-57537872 The article also states that it is believed that Hamas now produces most of its rockets from within, with outside help. Even Homer nods. In any case, the security services could be ringing the alarm bells all they like, but if the policymakers decide to ignore the warnings, then nothing happens. If they were distracted, say, by repeated elections and failed attempts to form a stable government, a fiercely-opposed campaign to bring the judiciary under Government control to avoid the PM being prosecuted for corruption, too much attention concentrated on events in Syria and Iran, things like that.

Yes, I know all that - it's the bit about ignoring, presumably highly urgent, advice from Mossad that Hamas were about to commit a heinous pogrom on Israeli soil because he was distracted by these other matters. If that were true then he surely would be hounded out of the country for good.
