I’ve heard Ed is in Elton’s Box tonight (n/t) on 09:03 - Dec 12 with 1966 views | VanSaParody | I don't think that needs re-phrasing at all ...a stadium where I once saw my name up in lights, an unused sub (goalie) in the Herts senior cup final for Boreham Wood in 1988 My opposite number that eve: David James (Elton was in attendance that night, too) Little did I know it at the time, that was as good as it got for me I remember, we did the cup final thing & went on the pitch before getting changed, but even though they were in the top flight, there was grass only in the 4 corners, it was all sand, which prompted the quip from our then manager John Drabwell... "F*!* me, the tide's gone out"! Oh, & how could I forget(?), the hospital next door to Vicarage Rd stadium is where I was born! COYB's [Post edited 12 Dec 2023 10:01]

Bit of a random question, but when you were at Boreham Wood, did you ever cross paths with another goalie with the surname Ling?

I still want to know which question is relevant: Who decided to put a football stadium next to a hospital? Who decided to put a hospital next to a football stadium? As it's the main hospital in the area where I Iive it might matter to me!

Ling doesn't ring a bell Tony Tillbrook was in goal for that final, Steve Waldutt & Mark 'Yosser' Hughes were other goalies there while I was there Yosser, I recall one pre-season, carried some timber, so they wrapped him in cling film under his kit, but he tore it off in about 10 mins flat cos he was too hot! Just realised, hope that little anecdote doesn't put you off your Xmas turkey! [Post edited 12 Dec 2023 13:24]
