I think I might have need a change of shorts had I been anywhere near that when it was lobbed on. I’m more your toned down 70s era where it was simple stuff chucked like snooker balls, lumps of concrete, rocks, lighters, coins (sometimes sharpened), darts. Anything really that you could get a bit of distance with. One particular game I remember was Luton v Leeds. The Leeds supporters were heeling up the terrace and hurling it in chunks at the Luton keeper. He was dancing around like an old western gunfighter with somebody shooting at his feet. He actually played alright and I think Luton won. The game was certainly not stopped. Clearly if they’d thrown a hand grenade it might have put him off a tad more. |  |
