I've edited it SB. Clearly used the term in the wrong way.

Fair enough. We live and learn. Life is a never ending learning experience after all. SB

any chance this was us? on 14:53 - Jan 21 by ChampionsofInnsbruck | Not paying a million plus for an injured veteran player who’s out of contract soon is not penny pinching, it’s sanity, something missing from football these days! |
I think from the list of UK based targets he's one of the closest to Hirst.. Goal contribution have been pretty solid over the last few seasons. Now back from injury. 28 which is a great age for a squad player in the championship. For me. I'd be going 1.5 max maybe slightly more. I know he's out of contract in summer.. but we need him now so for me it's pay for what you need. Really promotion is still on.. what is 1.5 or even 2. If we got promoted. And even if we didn't get promoted we've got him for next season. Think someone also said transfer fees for ffp are taken over the duration of the contract so say for arguments we offered an over inflated 2 mill.. that 2 would be counted as an initial figure..... I think.

any chance this was us? on 15:20 - Jan 21 by FrimleyBlue | Clearly I meant a prem loan deal of that calibre. Not a youngster on his first loan or a fullback In his season from a year out. But you knew that. Our offer was reported to be 1 mill. Of course just reported so views shared are or course based on reports. And I don't see penny pinching being overly negative tbh. |
Don't mean to add to the penny-pinching criticism Frimley. I think it's unsafe to conflate 'thriftiness' with spending power though, as one's desire to not be ripped off is often separate to their ability to afford something. It's a silly thread because we're talking about a Newcastle striker who's having a good season!

any chance this was us? on 15:15 - Jan 21 by FrimleyBlue | Didn't think it was a bad phrase to use in the context of the discussion with the OP. If we are standing firm with our offer and refusing to budge then no I can't see us offering big amounts for a prem loan transfer. |

any chance this was us? on 16:39 - Jan 21 with 535 views | Nutkins_Return | There were some Coventry rumours circulating about bringing him home. Coventry have also just missed out on an Argentinian winger to Benfica. Cov offered £9Mil!! (£6.5mil up front). They are going to be a massive threat in the playoffs IMO. If Chelsea get Gyokeres they are even more quids in.

Coventry on a brilliant run. Wouldn’t like to face them in the playoffs. Or anyone really; can imagine nightmare and heartache whoever we face.

Gallagher is 28, hardly a “veteran”, your 34 year old Ashley Barnes, however….
