This whole up/down voting thing 16:32 - Feb 12 with 4211 viewsthebooks

I don’t think I’ve ever downvoted anything. Bit playground, isn’t it?

Was thinking of the Frimley incident…

It’s not worth getting into arguments on message boards, or getting upset. I used to on here back in the day.

I can see why people got annoyed at Frimley, but it’s pretty common for posters to take against (or for) particular players and especially managers. Just the way of things.

On the other hand, I guess we do need to think about the effect of our words.

I’m surprised someone from Wes Burns’ camp actually read the stuff on here. I kind of think they should just ignore it.

Basically, the internet was a terrible invention and we should just dismantle it.

(Cue 643 downvotes 😁)

Must admit I find it all very childish.

I occasionally give an upvote but hardly ever (if ever) give a downvote.

Downvotes are all a bit Big Girls Blouse aren't they.

Good effort, LL.

I tend to use it as "I agree" or "I disagree". On the whole that is how I interpret it.

I find it a bit odd when someone replies and downvotes. It strikes me as point scoring, particularly when they reply in an aggressive/rude manner. I will follow suite if a poster is doing that.

If I feel an amount of downvotes is unwarranted or an unjustified pile on, I will look to

In regards to Frimley, it was impossible to discuss with them in the end, as they refused to be held accountable for what they'd said. I ended up voting if I agreed or down voting if I disagreed with something they said. I ended up putting them on ignore over an exaggeration of Burns (positive assessment of Burns can only be based on last year), when they refused to engage with what they said and tried to spin every reply into a justification of something else. They also lied often about what they had previously said when things were inevitably removed. I also stopped frequenting the site as often because of them. I often read first and then log in, so that I had them on ignore didn't really help. Surprised they were banned sooner. Good riddance and can understand why the father stepped in. Anyone name calling players should be banned, as they have clearly lost all perspective.

I get why some people don't like the down votes but I think it's important that if someone says something ridiculous it's a very visual and quick way of showing how much disagreement there is about it. You don't want to have to read every reply, it's summarised there at the top of the screen.

it's also an indicator of the poster themselves on their profile of their average score.

Now Im envisaging some sort of league table. Hope Im in playoffs
