Sheffield United's defence 16:58 - May 19 with 1072 views | Miaow | They have equalled Leicester's record from 1908–09 for the most goals conceded in a 38-match English top-flight season — 102. Oops.

Sheffield United's defence on 17:04 - May 19 with 1017 views | Swansea_Blue | I had a double take there. I was trying to think back 5 or 6 years to when Leicester had such a bad season. Back to 1907-08 is a pretty impressive record to break. They were solid last year too. I’m not sure that tells us anything about is, as solid we ain’t. They were pretty stingy up top last season and we’re not. I think that means our style is better suited to the PL, but we’ll need a few player upgrades.

Historically teams who’ve scored well in their promotion seasons tend to do better in the Prem than teams who’ve gone up with a tight defence. Not sure why that is. My guess is that it’s cheaper to buy good defenders than good attackers.
Sheffield United's defence on 20:38 - May 19 with 719 views | Churchman | Ok, it’s before football was invented in 1992 with the Dark Lord Sky, but in 1963/4 Ipswich conceded 121 goals in a 42 game season. Is that a record?

Some good stats here! — https://www.footballsite.co.uk/DYK/DYK07-CenturyConceded.htm Thankfully not a top-flight record as Blackpool let in 125 in the 1930/31 season. Sheffield United's 101 goals conceded in 42 games to finish bottom of the First Division in 1933/34 was their worst defensive record in a league campaign until 2023/24 (104 in 38).
