J Block works 06:53 - May 23 with 1971 views

I saw on a less than reputable Facebook group that someone has been asked by the club to move from the front row of J Block, to the South Upper. Anyone know why that might be the case? Camera installation?

I'm aware that boxes are going in behind J Block, which is a bit frustrating if it means less chance of standing all game in our little clique.

I’ve had an email about X block being made bigger even though it doesn’t affect me!!

Dear Supporter,

Everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club would like to thank you for your fantastic support last season and trust you are looking forward to the new season in the Premier League.

You may have seen in the media that, due to Premier League requirements, the Club must undertake some significant changes to Portman Road over the summer months. Some of these changes directly impact the stadium seating plan, and as such the club is making contact with those affected supporters over the next few weeks to highlight these changes.

Unfortunately, a number of premium area seats will be affected by these changes, and to those supporters the Club are able to offer alternative premium seating. To achieve this, we are looking to add additional seating into Block X with the creation of a further 136 seats. For this to be completed with the least possible disruption, we will be adding additional rows to the area as well as adding a small number of seats into existing rows. Whilst this will reduce legroom in Block X, making it more in line with other areas of the stadium, all seating in this area will be padded to retain the premium feel.

The map of Block X below shows the new look to the area.

Seat 1 is the first seat to the right-hand side running to seat 56 on the left-hand side. The middle stairwell is flanked by seat 28 on the right as we look and 29 on the left.

If you login to your online profile at https://tickets.itfc.co.uk/, you will be able to verify your seat location in relevance to the changes.

If you have any issues with your new seat location, please contact the Ticket Office team on 03330 05 05 03 from 10am on Thursday, 23 May or drop in to Planet Blue from the same time. If, however, you are happy with the seat location you do not need to take any further action and your season card will be sent in readiness for the new season.

I guess that’s because Y block in Magnus is being reduced in size due to the press box extension?

It may be linked to stewards having to be sat at the bottom of sections looking up at supporters all game.

They’d just install a seat at the bottom of the gangways for that, plus would only be in the lower tiers.

I expect the club will send an email out later apologising for the email sent in error.

I heard it was because they recognise the lack of leg room and were reconfigurimg the seats, adding in padded seats near the front and rail standing at the back. Also the exec boxes are serving free beer to all J blockers with canapes and dips as half time snacks.

Likely to be for a camera position. We're about to go from 3 cameras to 43. In a tight, compact 'traditional' stadium, thats always going to affect seats.

Ashton said 6 to 43 but there’s was more than 6 camera positions installed already.
