You should have tried living on the Orkney Islands from 1991-1994, when there was zero coverage of English football on any Scottish media - I remember having to phone up Middlesborough's office for the result after an away league game to them when we were close to promotion!

You didn't have Teletext or Ceefax? Those were handy esp on matchdays for score updates.

Guess it depends what kind of TV you had. I don't remember getting a TV with a remote control until late 80s. I think the first bit of Town news I ever saw on teletext was when Sergei signed, which was actually the main sports news headline. That was really exciting at the time.

Blimey - you were rich! We had to stand in the rain outside Hughes to watch through the window.

Err - I was renting a cottage that had been condemned as unfit for human habitation - but it did include a colour TV without ceefax or teletext!

The Evening Star was always delivered to my grandparents, but the Green Un was always collected from the Cornhill.

In later years, I’d grab one on a Sunday on my way home from the petrol station near the Orwell Bridge when filling up. I liked the Green Un. It was mostly irrelevant rubbish, but somehow it was comforting.

"It was mostly irrelevant rubbish, but somehow it was comforting."

Norwich has built a whole football team, fanbase and community around the existence of this very fact.
