Now THAT is a poor var decision 14:48 - Jun 22 with 1212 viewsredrickstuhaart

In what way was that intentional? Arm up, but not to block the ball. Entirely natural position for the situation and movement.

I agree. I'd argue that's a more controversial decision than last night's.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

It doesn’t need to be intentional. That rule hasn’t been around for a while.

Disagree, his arm is out, the ball hits the arm therefore clear pen

Hence the further reference to natural position.

Do you want to quote us the rule that says "if arm is out its handball"?

"touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm ***is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement*** for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised"

Emphasis added.

The arm was not in a natural position if you dont think that is a blatant action then fair enough your entitled to your opinion

It was out long before the ball got there. It was not there for the ball. Try to move at speed without your arms. Or mark an opponent, without arms.

Give over, that’s a pen all day long.

Why?

Make reference to the rules in explaining your decision.

It was an exceptionally easy and correct decision.

The rule:

A free kick or penalty will be awarded if:
the ball goes into the goal after touching an attacker's hand or arm.

That's even if accidental. It's also the same if it directly plays the ball to a player who then scores

*Just realised people are talking about pen and not the disallowed goal (I think)...or a mix?

Nope. Nothing in the rules makes that one a clear pen.

What a silly response.

I disagree with the referee's subjective assessment. Based on what the rules actually say.

How about you? Is it just what you "reckon"??
