Sarmiento winner... noise 16:52 - Jun 24 with 5707 views | FrimleyBlue | Never realised how loud that moment was. Always nice to have an excuse to post that goal again :) I do hope we bring him back. He's like a broadhead but with the desire to hurt people too :)

Sarmiento winner... noise on 21:43 - Jun 24 by gainsboroughblue | On my subsequent viewings, the ball crosses the line quicker as well. Feck me, it was agonising first time around. Seemed to creep in slow motion. [Post edited 24 Jun 2024 21:45]

It was definitely “did that really happen” on first viewing. Coventry away was less dramatic but infinitely more stressful. Not that we were ever really under pressure from Cov but the stakes were so much higher at that stage. Weirdly, although I was only there for one game, 2024 might just be my most enjoyable promotion season. Great though 92 and 00 were, this just felt so ridiculous and unlikely and incredible.

Some tech-savvy yoof needs to put Brenner’s comms over the goal footage.

Sarmiento winner... noise on 16:59 - Jun 24 by NthQldITFC | I watched it once. Then I watched it again once for each player so I could focus on each player's reaction throughout the clip. Then I watched it again once for everybody in the crowd so I could see their reactions. Then I watched it again because I could almost see myself nearly falling over the barrier at the front of the North Stand Upper when I was celebrating. I haven't watched it enough yet. |
Watch it again. But with the sound on...

Those Watford and Boro home draws did feel bad at the time. Still, just 2 defeats in our last 15 games was pretty damn special.

Losing 10 of our last 96 league games scoring 193 goals in the process is not bad either. [Post edited 25 Jun 2024 2:14]

Sarmiento winner... noise on 18:24 - Jun 24 by CopfordBlue | My favourite ever moment at Portman Road, I’ve never experienced anything like it. Plenty of great ones over the years - the Bolton play off, Murhen’s volley against Forest, Megson’s OG, AZ67 etc but this topped the lot for me. |
I go back to 1969 and the only thing from recollection that comes close is the Megson OG in the 90th minute. As regards the Sarmiento goal, I think it is a combination of initial disappointment that he'd missed the chance, astonishment at what he did next, the lateness of the goal and what the victory meant. And the way Sarmiento was able to recover shows he is some player because I am not sure there are many other players who could have done the same. [Post edited 25 Jun 2024 9:26]
