Surely it’s time to put these elites on a timeout? on 09:56 - Jun 26 with 1456 views | badadski | Agree with Kane and saka as they are playing where they should and still look bad. I think England need to do what Man City do when haaland is injured - foden as spear of the attack, Bellingham just behind centrally so able to roam and palmer and Gordon on either wing. Palmer was light years ahead of what saka had done in both games in just the 15 odd minute cameo. Mainoo as advanced midfield and rice and Gallagher or any other protective cover deemed necessary. The fitness of the younger players or more technicality should allow us to play further up the pitch than when Kane plays and drops back with no one overlapping.

Surely it’s time to put these elites on a timeout? on 10:20 - Jun 26 with 1366 views | Garv | I'd be a bit hacked off if I was Watkins after the season he's had. Kane has obviously had a good year too but there were fitness concerns with him coming into the tournament and he's not exactly excelling, but there's never any question that he won't start. Bellingham seems frustrated for whatever reason, and tired, but it's a big call to drop the player with the most personality and character in the squad (by a bit of a distance). Also harsh to call out Saka I think but Palmer is another who should be getting minutes and he's the natural replacement. Mainoo and Gordon are the ones that should be starting in particular in my opinion.

Surely it’s time to put these elites on a timeout? on 10:33 - Jun 26 with 1291 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Foden was probably our best player last night, and has been played out of position. He is our best No10, and needs to be played there. (as I said before a ball was kicked).

I agree with most of that. However, I dont think Bellinghams character or personality has shown in the last 2 matches. If anything its been negative, and he's tried too many hollywood moves when a simple pass would do. After match two, GS said Kane was tired. Surely Watkins should have had 30 mins at least last night to give Kane a rest. I would now be surprised if Watkins gets any minutes. [Post edited 26 Jun 2024 10:37]

Wouldn't totally disagree on JB but aren't we all bored of the simple pass? That's been one of the main criticisms.

Granted, but by the time Palmer came on, the Slovenians had spent 70 minutes chasing possession so there would have been more space.

It's great if he can execute it at the right time, like Palmer. But... JB lost possession 16 times last night.

Nah, I don't buy that. No one else managed to do the same against the tired slovenians.
