Been invited to a slap up lunch with the promise of cheese and beans on a baked potato, but I feel the weather has to factor into this. I am scrambling to come up with the perfect backup option, a good old sarnie.
What is the best for summer though?
Ham is always a solid choice but a bit too pedestrian for someone like me. (See also Cheese, Tunacumber, egg cress). Maybe salted caramel onions with sausage bon bons and a dollop of moutarde sauce...

I'm amused that you describe cheese and beans on a baked potato as "a slap up lunch" that you've "been invited to." Have you been invited to a Cub Scout jamboree?
But anyway, if you want a summery sandwich I'd say a New York style bagel with sesame seeds filled with good quality smoked salmon and cream cheese, rocket, a squeeze of lemon and some freshly ground black pepper. |

I went veggie last July. My Mrs booked a restaurant in Ambleside but didn't tell it was vegetarian until we were in the car. I wasn't amused. But I played along and thoroughly enjoyed the food. New dishes and new tastes.
It was the week before the Sunderland away game so I said to the Mrs that I would try going veggie until the game where I would devour a pre match burger with my pint. When I got to Sunderland I decided against the burger and here we are nearly a year later.
