Advice appreciated from TWTD electricians 11:48 - Jul 26 with 1355 views | Vic | I’ve just come back from holiday to find that I’ve lost power to my boiler and heating. Both digital thermostats (for boiler and room stats) are blank and boiler has no lights on at al. The fuse board switch for them is on. Any suggestions before I call out an electrician?

Advice appreciated from TWTD electricians on 14:08 - Jul 26 with 1192 views | textbackup | My boiler is wired into a fuse on the wall, which then goes to the breaker. Maybe check that point first.

If it goes again something is shorting and your next step might well be an electrician depending on your level of electrical competence. Check life insurance before attempting DIY fix

There is usually a fused spur switch near the boiler, sometimes in the boiler cupboard. Might need that fuse checking or changing

I know modern systems are designed to shut down if there are issues, and maybe this is your problem. I don't suppose you have a British Gas service contract which would give you a free visit. I assume they also have electrical qualifications, because one recently installed a new pump on my system which needed an additional breaker which he fitted. [Post edited 26 Jul 2024 15:40]

The gas supply isn’t needed for there to be any lights on the boiler 😂

I don't think a mocking comment like that is appropriate, not least because comments like that discourage people from making suggestions. You've obviously never been on a Dale Carnegie course, and I certainly wouldn't respond if you were ever to ask for help on this forum. As it is, I have a British Gas service contract which covers for free both gas and electrics and I (perhaps wrongly) would have got a gas man out first who might well have been able to fix it.
