Wear a fake shirt to a game and you might be asked to leave. I wonder how long before this becomes commonplace? Seems a lot to police to me.

Given the quality of fakes these days, they're going to have a fun time trying to police that.

The use of the conditional in the article suggests that they probably have no intention of following through, and are just getting rather antsy at the number of genuine shirts that they're maybe not selling?

Unless it's in the terms and conditions on which tickets are sold, they will have no right to eject someone on the basis that the person who made or sold them their tat was breaching their intellectual property rights. "Respectfully request" ain't gonna cut it.

Thought I'd have a little gander at their Ts and Cs. I'm sad like that. And in other ways.

This is what they say:

"1.7 Save for official Club merchandise and/or other football related clothing worn in good faith, you shall not bring into, use or display within the Ground any sponsorship, promotional or marketing materials.
...
1.9 The Club reserves the right to refuse admission to, or eject from, the Ground any person who fails to comply with the Terms & Conditions of Entry."

A fake shirt is "football related clothing", obviously. I suppose they could say that wearing it is not "in good faith" if you know it's fake. But how are they to go about policing the quality of someone's faith?! :)

Even if it's not worn in good faith, the thing that is actually prohibited is "sponsorship, promotional or marketing materials." Is that really what a fake football top is? They should call a spade a spade. If they have problems with fake kits, say so in the terms.

But yeah, impossible to police anyway. Although with poor results comes a declining fanbase, and if you're only getting a handful through the door, you can have a good old chinwag about what they're wearing...

Matter of time until Chansiri uses this as a reason to attack his own fans and to not put any more money into the club.

"Why should I put money in when our supporters cannot be trusted to do their part"

Or words to that effect.

As has been mentioned many times, if clubs weren't ripping the absolute pish with the prices of replica shirts these fakes wouldn't exist as there would be no market for them.
