What would you say was our strongest team and how does the final squad end up looking.
On the basis we bring in Broja (or another), Szmodics (or another), Phillips, Cajuste (or another), Ahmedhodzic (or another) surely it's something like this in the short term.

Morsy Phillips/Cajuste
Davis Greaves Ahmedhodzic Johnson

That would leave Walton, Slicker, Clarke, Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Edmundson, Townsend, Phillips / Cajuste, Taylor, Luongo, Harness, Humphreys, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst, Delap, Ladapo.
Seems certain Edmundson and Ladapo are then off. Humphreys too. Then Harness and Luongo are probably the closest to the door after that. Really wouldn't be surprised to see Broadhead move on in the next 6-12 months either despite everything he did last season.
That's essentially already 6, 7 or 8 players in what you'd say is our strongest team that weren't here last year. I fully trust McKenna and Ashton to get it right with the characters and keeping squad harmony.
That's really about what most people expected really? For me the ones likely to be up to the standard were Davis, then Morsy and Burns (who'd have thought that 3 years ago- what a rise!) and maybe Woolfy and Hirst. Not that many I expected to really take that next step up to proven Premier League player over the next year or hopefully beyond.

It won’t change that much I don’t believe - at least to start with / it will still have Delap; Chaplin as the 10 behind the Hutchinson right or burns to do the usual swap on 60 mins, szmodics left
Defenders wil still be greaves and burgess/wolf/edmondson based on opposition. Usual Leif at left back and tuanzabe or Johnson right back. Morsy guaranteed his spot and Muric. We will still try to play to get slender lead or stay competitive until the 60 minute change and go for the throat. | | | |
