Some Man City fans sure know how to hold a grudge… on 09:06 - Aug 21 by htb | I remember the night we relegated them well. A great atmosphere we were singing to the tune of Blue Moon. “Too soon, you got promoted too soon. Now you are going back down and it’s Europe for Town.” Shame they got the Saudi billions and the rest is history |
Didn’t we sing that at Charlton away after beating them 3-1 on a Friday night, Man City thought they had already been promoted Long time ago sure someone on this site has a better memory

No, it was definitely with their relegation in 2001. We did play Charlton away on a Monday night the week before and I think that song did get an airing there so that might be what you are thinking about.

Charlton Athletic v Ipswich Town, 29 April 2000 Score 3-1 to Ipswich Town Competition League Division 1 Venue The Valley Attendance 20,043 Just looked back at the records Charlton champions on 91 points Man City runners up on 89 points Ipswich third on 87 points This was the play off year when we beat Bolton who were on 76 points then Barnsley in the final Sure Man City thought Charlton would beat us and we’re already promoted, but we beat Charlton making them having to win the last game of the season

That was a frustrating day (turned out ok in the end though and wouldn't have it any other way now). Blackburn hit the woodwork two or maybe even three times, went 1 up and still contrived to lose 4-1. We routinely dispatched an already relegated Walsall. Edit. Just looked at highlights, Blackburn hit the woodwork four times! On another note, City's away strip was a thing of beauty that year. [Post edited 21 Aug 2024 10:21]

What was the away kit? Red and black stripes? They deserved to be relegated in 2000-01 purely on the strength of their away kit that season alone.

Yeah. Red and black stripes but slightly thinner stripes than the 81 cup one. What was the next one? I know they had a few neon/fluorescent monstrosities.

The silver/neon one we relegated them in - easily one of the worst non-N*rwich kits I’ve ever seen

Some Man City fans sure know how to hold a grudge… on 11:09 - Aug 20 by MattinLondon | I did have a chuckle at the comment ‘I think they had some beef over something irrelevant’, I’m not sure that that City poster has much self-awareness. Plus the reply to that particular post ‘it were possible, it would be so satisfying to relegate the insolent bastards at their gaff. Everything comes to he who waits......Karma !! Is he talking about us or their possible heavy points deduction? I don’t really have anything against them - it does make me smile that for years they’ve complained about United buying the league but look at them now. They’ve basically become everything they said that they’ve hated about their main rivals. No one can dispute the fact that they play fantastic football and are one of the best (if not the best) team in the world. But some of their fans are so delicate. And Blue Moon is even worse than On The Ball City and I cannot forgive that. Edit. On reflection, they probably don’t get as much credit as what Liverpool or Man Utd received now and in the 90s. And why is that? I can think of 115 reasons....
