How much dough have we spent now then? 09:24 - Aug 23 with 1501 views_clive_baker_

Omari - £20m?
Delap - £15m
Greaves - £15m
Szmodics - £9m
Muric - £8m
Johnson - £0m
Townsend - £0.5m
Phillips - Loan fee
Cajuste - Loan fee
Broja - ?
Clarke - £15m

c. £85m plus signing on fees? Something like that? Average contract of 4 years I guess, so c. £21m amortised to the P&L per annum, with a million or so offsetting this season due to departures.

Room for another RCB then that's our lot I would guess, unless someone really special becomes available at a price too good to turn down.

Is that £4m for Phillips a guess or a reported figure?

If so, makes you think…. If a player is in his prime years and their value isn’t going up, then expensive loans for a season or two provide pretty good value, especially if there are obligation to buy clauses included. His market value must be what, £30m?

A good chunk of change , McKenna is true to his word of only buying in what he feels are upgrades, only downside is the time it will take to properly gel and to get up to mckennas playing style and fitness. He inherited a very hood spine from Cook who put the gears in motion but it took a remainder of the season and pre season to form a great cohesive unit. We still have the majority of the spine which as proven against Liverpool can some what hold their ground so hopefully will be able to bed the new players in. Clarke and Leif down the left is as exciting a pair as I can remember in a long time, with hutchinson and Szmodics supporting off the main striker then that is one hell of an attacking line up. It also allows us to play the 65 and then do the 3 on at 65 where we will have chappers, burns, Al-Hamadi, hirst, Broja as finishers. It think delap will be the main man this season due to his work effort and constant nuisance that he shows he provides.

Loving the team and hope we get to see it as real cohesive unit as could seriously do some damage.

From an accounting / PSR aspect that is only going to be around £20-25M hitting the books this season (and subsequently over the next 3-5 seasons). Considering the ages of the players signed permanently looks likely that barring injuries (god forbid) we are building a squad capable of growing and developing together through this season and beyond.

Every one of those players has got future potential - imo the business done this year has been incredibly forward thinking, with the club wanting to leverage the spend now to get the squad in place for the whole season - maximizing the potential to develop and not wanting to be over cautious with a view to "seeing how we go and we can strengthen in January".

I am almost certain that one of the stipulations that KM had when he sat down to secure his contract was that he *had* to have his squad in place before the end of August, so he could have the most time to work and develop it.

These truly are extraordinary times, and we should consider how fortunate we are to have what appears to be a forward thinking set of investors, board and management team.

Agreed re. Phillips. £8.7m to have a player of his qualities for a season could help us get another £150m+. It's a very savvy deal IMO and leaves us with no baggage if we fail to stay up.

£4m loan fee is what I've been told and we're covering around 2/3s of his salary.

Plus, as I've mentioned before, if the figures on Transfermkt are accurate, before this summer, Town had only paid approx £85m in transfer fees in their entire professional history since 1936.

Mind boggling.
