Sunderland fans reaction to Jack Clarke signing for Towen.. on 10:38 - Aug 23 by squiz
Such a terrible move for Clarke. Ipswich are so much smaller than Sunderland
From the comments (can't be bothered to listen to them rambling on), it sounds like they would be happier if he had gone to Leeds instead then! I guess they would like to have watched him come back to play them for a few more seasons.
They really don;t have any idea about our squad or whats happening here do they! Why come to us when we'll go straight back down - well, duh, we're signing him and about 11 others who are all better than the team we had so that we don;t go straight back down! This is such a knee jerk reaction recording - very heat of the moment, with no research.

I am sure that if their club had sunk to the depths of League 1 before bouncing back to the Premier League they would have a clearer understanding. From the perspective of always being in and around the Champions League places it is difficult for them to empathise.
They're hilarious. I used to live with one through uni life. They have maybe a third more fans than most medium-sized clubs in England, the consequence of building a stadium they can't fill all those years back, when forced to re-home themselves after the Roker report, but which has enabled them to accommodate, cycle through and sometimes retain new fans during seasons of relative excitement. This in Sunderland eyes propels them into the bigger leagues probably alongside Newcastle and Everton lol. And yet they've never qualified for Europe through league finish in their lives. You'd need to be over 80 years old to remember when they last vaguely threatened the summit of English football. We think our last sustained period of relevance was a long time ago! When they were relegated from the top flight shortly after us twenty-or-so years ago, nearly 20K disappeared from their average attendance of two seasons prior. 😅
To be fair to them, Sunderland's natural place is being irrelevant in the 'teenths of the PL, I wouldn't suggest otherwise. Sometimes relegated, normally promoted back quite quickly, and very, very rarely getting a nosebleed sneaking into the top 10. Why Jack Clarke has opted to join us instead of waiting for Sunderland's eventual return to the lower reaches of the league we find ourselves in, will we ever understand his logic, who knows!

Sunderland fans still live on a FA Cup win from the 70s and league wins from the late 1800s/early 1900s
But to be fair when it looked like McKenna was going to Brighton a lot of Town fans waent down a similar road about Brighton a small club, no history etc.

All clubs have some entitled fans
We do a fair bit of living off our history too and quite rightly, same for them too. What's the point of winning stuff if you then forget about it?
