RIP Sven (n/t) on 18:00 - Aug 26 by Ryorry | I don't think he'd have minded you relating the story, he always came across as having a gsoh, but I'd add that gentlemanly conduct, wit and charm are also popular attributes with ladies! [Post edited 26 Aug 2024 18:02]

just as well gsoh, charm, gentlemanly conduct and intelligence are important to ladies as we can't all physically promise what Sven could. Apparently.

Eriksson Pays Tribute to Robson 18th Dec 2010 08:59Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has paid tribute to legendary Town boss Sir Bobby Robson ahead of today’s game at Portman Road. The Swede famously sat alongside Robson in the home dugout after making a fact-finding trip to Suffolk when a young manager. 13

RIP Sven (n/t) on 13:07 - Aug 26 by RegencyBlue | His reply to the Sky interviewer after the game was classic. When asked what he had learned from the game he said “I learned my players do not like playing in the snow”. |
That was probably the most illuminating thing Sven ever said at a presser. From being unveiled as England manager, he knew that you shouldn't say anything remotely controversial & the most you ever got out of him was "the grass was quite green & the ball quite round". He also (rightly, IMO) felt his private life (usually involving attractive ladies) was his own business, as long as he wasn't doing anything illegal. He came with a big reputation as a coach, but apart from introducing some calmness after the chaos of Keegan, he did very little with some talented England players, obsessed with shoe-horning certain players into the midfield, at the expense of the balance of the team. And an old school duffer as far as practising penalty kicks was concerned. At least Southgate got that right.
