Brighton Ballot 12:46 - Sep 5 with 1257 viewsITFC4EVA1970

Has anyone received an email from the club yet saying they have been successful in the ballot ?

Nope. As a ST holder on 14 points, it was pretty pointless buying a membership this season.

£35 to enter a ballot for 60 tickets once a fortnight.

Yes that's exactly the same boat my son and I are in and when you put it like that it doesn't seem much of a bargain!

2% seems a very small percentage to me. Ideally it should be 10%, but I'd be satisfied with 5%. At least give people half a chance to gain some points. We lost out last season because times were changed to midweek or Monday nights by SKY, during school weeks. Otherwise we'd have enough points to easily qualify.

Now we will be stuck on 14 points unless a ballot comes in. The boy was very excited about visiting many Premier League stadiums this season. It's likely to be zero.

Agree 100%. 60 tickets in the ballot is too few. Should be 5%. There is no opportunity to get points up to the 15+ threshold. And having attended games last season that didn't generate points (using someone else's ticket and sitting in with the home fans) of course now seems like a mistake.

I suspect that many thousands of SB members will wait until the precise details are released before renewing SB Membership for 25/26. There's nothing to stop the club increasing the ballot % now, and that is what they should do.

Similarly I am stuck on 12 points, we are effectively locked out of away games even with the ballot.

I am thinking of suggesting to the club that for next season they give those on say 30 points plus the opportunity to buy and away season ticket, then everyone else who want to goes in a weighted ballot for each match

30 points - 30 entries in the ballot
12 points - 12 entries in the ballot

etc

Clearly you can only win once

Possibly need some way to link up to 4 people together so if one wins you all win so you can go with your mates

Thoughts ?

I’ve been here before on this debate.

It is sad that a huge number of people won’t get to experience away trips this year; whilst I had one guy tell me he would be very angry with the club if he didn’t get to every away game this season.

But we have to just suck it up I guess.

Speaking as someone with a decent point tally, I feel that 250 would be about right and give reason for those on less points to pay for membership.

This is an excellent idea, BlueRaider. It's fair, yet allows for a bit more 'circulation' of away tickets. Indeed, if the whole "queuing" thing can be scrapped, it would save the club money and save customers time and stress. Move everything to any system where fans can buy tickets not under time limits and pressure, and it's a win all around.
