Mobile phone signal… 18:36 - Sep 9 with 4664 viewsJuno68

I am currently on GiffGaff and can never get a signal inside FPR (lower West Stand).

As I am in the process of changing supplier, wondered if anyone has experienced this? Frustrating when you can’t check on other scores.

If you're using 4G on a match day, you don't have a chance of getting good internet. 5G is a lot better if you have the access (at least it is on 3). If not, turn off 4G and use 3G instead, it's slow, but it works.

Handy tip thanks, I’ve never got a decent signal with 4G or 5G in any ground except for when the match is on (when you don’t want it of course). Before and at half-time, forget it. I’ll try that 3G tip if I need it.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

There’s only 1 score that matters and you don’t need a phone for it.

I’m amazed how many people are on their phones mid match!!

I agree, it is best just to focus on Ipswich in the stadium and to put the mobile phone away. I like to check the other scores walking home from the ground, when full time scores are available.

I am with Lebara (Vodafone), paying £4.50 a month including EU roaming. The signal at Portman Road hardly works at all.

Which will work until 3g gets switched off...which is like within the next year or so

Three and Smarty work a treat in the ground. Always.

3 in the back of the Cobbold - ace, back of the West Stand - rubbish. Top of the Alf - fine.

I wonder if the problem is actually the networks that everyone else is on for the match day you attend? I also have a Spusu (EE) and Giffgaff (O2) PAYG esim on my phone, so will skip to these if I hit a problem.

I used to use that tip when I had a phone that allowed a choice between 3G and 4G. Always worked on 3G, rarely on 4G. Unfortunately my current phone no longer allows the choice of 3G, only 4G or 5G, and because the phone always sees a 4G signal it never drops to 3G, despite that 4G network offering no data capacity.

Hold a meeting at pr
Get your mates to join you. Pretend to hold a meeting
Obtain WiFi password for your presentation
Use WiFi code when you go to matches.
Result.

Think they change the password weekly, or very frequently. Not for this sole reason, but had a meeting and brief tour around PR and took a picture of the password on the wall in the exec bit, worked for a couple of weeks and then no longer did.

Probably for the best anyway, sure people can go 90 minutes without checking the internet - as long as you can receive calls or texts in the event of an emergency, all is good.

Depends where you sit. It doesn't work well where I sit - block H of the West stand.

Interesting. I've sat in block M of that stand and had it work perfectly on multiple occasions. In fact, I've sat in multiple spots and not had a problem for at least a year (when the 5G came around).
