I spent last week doing this (but only when I needed to.) Our work party leader had been into Go Outdoors and bought this Hi Gear bucket that, when you lifted the lid, revealed a toilet seat inside. And at great expense he had bought compostable plastic bags to fit inside the bucket so that every night the bag was tied off and emptied into a waste pit.
Not everyone learned the art of true discretion though as they wandered over the hill to evacuate. My work colleague from Leeds turned to me drying as he was rinsing the dishes in the stream and said 'You know, I've never done the washing up whilst watching someone take a sh1te before.'

Toilet pits on expeditions are the best. it's a fine art constructing one with undercut sides that give way at just the right moment, dumping the the unsuspecting victim into the pit. It's a labour of love crafting them, but worth the effort when you hear the screams from behind the bushes.

The first festival I went to, Weeley in 1971, had a trench for everything and a scaffold pole arrangement over it to perch on if you wanted to dump (the Ladies had the added luxury of windbreaks screening theirs.) I only saw one bloke on the scaffolding all weekend and he looked nervous as feck. I must have gone four days before I released.
When the write the bag was tied off every night, does this mean the same bag was contributed into over the course of the day by your work party? And when you write the bag was emptied, does this mean the bag was deposited in the pit or was it reopened and contents tipped out?

Different bag every day, tied off bag in the pit. I had dug the pit but I hope someone will be filling it back in today as I left the job halfway through...

Actually I don’t mind taking a dump outside into a bucket,the wind whistling around the never regions as one is propped up against a shed or tree is quite refreshing.
It’s not good though after curry Thursday and a few pints of tramps P.
