Sometimes art can be found in many forms!

An Aston Martin DB9 or an Indian Scout (motorcycle circa 1950's) are good examples, too

You haven't seen a lot of art if that's your opinion of art. I suspect you've mostly seen art that gets on the news... which by its very nature would be more about controversy than anything else. When was the last time you went to an art gallery? Or viewed art (in any setting) by local artists?

In terms of what art is supposed to do then you're perfectly entitled to want to see art that accurately represents something. Art, though, is obviously so much more than that. Good art, for me, should provoke a reaction, an emotion. Competent artists who can accurately depict something are ten-a-penny. Creating something that moves people is a whole different kettle of fish (and being accurate is far removed from the point).

Of my two daughters, one is a very talented artist
She has produced some superb drawings & paintings, bias aside, she's better than a lot I've seen
(She's now a tattooist)

If you're happy accepting the effort of the artist in the BBC link because you see something in it that moves you, that's great for you
Not for me
But again, art is just a matter of opinion

This is in the Uffizi in Florence. It is an astonishing piece of work called Head of Medusa by Caravaggio painted in 1598.

https://www.caravaggio.org/medusa.jsp

You wouldn’t want it on your wall, table or anywhere else but like Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, you are left wondering how anyone could create it.

It is a picture of the moment between life and death. The head is suspended, gore pouring from it along with Medusa’s life. The eyes in that moment do not look at the viewer and neither do the snakes. A terrifying image of a terrifying mythical creature that would turn a person to stone with a look.

It was painted on a convex shield as indeed Da Vince’s earlier version was. Caravaggio was a master of light and if you want a bit of that, this image will give you it, the shape of the shield assisting in that Perseus of course removed Medusa’s head using his shield as a mirror.

The face is deliberately distorted to accentuate the horror. Caravaggio painted using his own face distorting it in a mirror so this is in its way a self portrait. The snakes are an accurate depiction - he was interested in nature.

Caravaggio was a troubled individual. Some would say bonkers putting it mildly and his paintings kind of reflect that. But they are dynamic, dramatic and quite transfixing.
