Guardiola new deal suggests Man City are confident of escaping points deduction 13:29 - Nov 21 with 1158 views | unstableblue | You could suggest that Pepe wouldn't have signed that longer term deal, with NO relegation exit clause, if he hasn't had some assurances that the Man City lawyers are confident of a limited or no points deduction, and no relegation. Their odds of relegation have gone from roughly 10-1 to 12-1. It seems common knowledge that certain managers were paid more than reported through shell companies and 'non-football' payments. My understanding is these may have taken place in a time period that may exempt from penalty. BUT, the lack of cooperation could bite - but perhaps only enough to put them in the bottom half. Perhaps Pep is motivated to winning Premiership, AFTER, the points penalty and punishment have been applied. We need 3 other teams below us this season, and not Man City, Saints, Leicester... and one from Palace, Everton, Wolves. The dossier of charges and evidence are already ridiculously delayed in being actioned. The investigation started in 2018! Charges made in Feb 2023! It’s nearly the end of 2024. But as you say the Man City lawyers, buoyed by their recent win owner/sponsorship can wrap this up in delays in court for years. It would be interesting to know if the legal fees go into footballing expenditure and therefore FFP? I’d suggest a movement by other clubs fans, that in turn gets city fans to pressure the club to clear their name, is the best approach. If they are booed and ridiculed at every game - are players, managers and fans going to be happy?

....at the moment. It just can't be reported on. Given the nature of the charges (ie false reporting, not failing PSR) it was always unlikely that they will receive a "sporting" penalty, but more likely a financial one.

The charges are not just financial reporting I think Bloots: Number of charges by category: Failure to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information (2009-2018) 54 Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation (2009-2018) 14 Failure to comply with UEFA's regulations, including Financial Fair Play Regulations 5 Breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability regulations (2015-2018) 7 Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations (2018-2023) 35
