Braintree sack Harrop 14:27 - Nov 28 with 2629 views | Sharkey | That looks harsh (to this ousider anyway), as he did well to get them promoted to the NL and they surely can't have expected to 'rip up' that league. I wonder if they have anyone in mind. (Cole Skuse perhaps?)

I wonder, - the towns are almost identical in size but I'd think being that little bit closer to London makes it slightly easier to attract (part-time) players. (Having said that, Braintree do have quite a few close neighbours at a similar level.) [Post edited 28 Nov 2024 15:07]

Braintree sack Harrop on 15:08 - Nov 28 with 2447 views | soupytwist | If you believe what's written about their last game on the club's official site perhaps Mr Harrop's heart was no longer in it: "Despite the poor showing on Saturday at Boston, The Braintree lads did not train at all before last night's match with Maidenhead United. The only preparation appeared to be a brief video resume in the sponsors lounge less than two hours before kick-off - with the players told to not worry about the opposition. The instructions seemed to backfire as Iron found themselves two goals adrift in the first ten minutes as the Berkshire side gleefully accepted gifts for McCoulsky in the opening minute and Abraham eight minutes later." I think most people at Braintree have a fairly realistic view of their place in the footballing world. As long as it's above/near Chelmsford City they're probably happy enough.

Bury have never had a sugar daddy and exist from their own efforts. Their gates are worthy of a higher league but whether that is sufficient is debatable. Skuse has done a good job, employed back up staff who know the level but Bury should be at the top end of the league they are in with their attendances being double the average.

At grammar school in the beet season you either had the smell of the sugar beet factory or the Greene King brewery. If the wind swirled you got a mixture of both.

If you got that from their website, my hat's off to you, as I found it extremely hard to navigate!
Braintree sack Harrop on 22:46 - Nov 28 with 1649 views | ITFCMonk | It is harsh in the sense that he’s certainly been a more popular figure than our chairman Mr Lee Harding. The club setup has been too poor for too long now. No youth setup. No investment into facilities etc. hopefully we can stay in this league somehow until the Chairman and the board are finally gone.

Has John White gone too? (While I’m here, can I just say that there were not enough thumbs-ups for RonFearonsHair’s quip, which was amongst the funniest I’ve read in many years in twtd. )

It appears he has. Would liked to have seen him kept on at least as an interim
