Dark Arts 13:10 - Dec 2 with 1186 views | VanSaParody | The first question we need to ask ourselves is: Do we want to stay in the Premier League? I'll make a leap here, & assume the answer to that is "yes"! So, rather than bemoan our luck as the season progresses in the hope these things will "even themselves out over the season", is it time for us to employ the dark arts? I think we should start diving & cheating to win pens & deliberately play right on the verge of offside & let VAR continue to make mistakes Let's be pro-active in this I now no longer care if we gain a reputation for diving/cheating if it keeps us up Better than being relegated bemoaning our luck all the way to the end of the season, cos it just isn't going to even itself out, is it? COYB's!

We've done it one way or another for years We have Hutchinson doing it today, have had others doing it in the past, like Pablo, Jaime Peters. Let's not forget about Taricco or Uhlenbeek, they were always pretty good at the underhand, often playing on the cusp of acceptable. I seem to remember Kiwomya used to occasionally fall over more than he should etc. I think we're fine - I'd rather invest the time in proper squad training and development.

We have a 5 minute tactical catch up mid game almost every game after feining injury - not sure how much more dark arts you can get - maybe when fouled we could add in the donkey squeals for authenticity but beyond that I think our dark arts isn’t bad.
Dark Arts on 14:52 - Dec 2 with 958 views | Vegtablue | For me, we know it all well and we do it pretty well. Badadski's spot on with those mid-half sit-downs, they take these arts to the next level, two or three team-talk episodes each game for the price of one. And some of our midfield 'housery last season was a thing of beauty. The two pens we've given away felt criminally naive in the moment. In Harry's case I think it's something he can work on, reading those situations better, while Sammie's case was maybe more out of character, I don't see him repeating it (famous last words). We're in a clear deficit with officials today; I liked Ashton's public comments and hope we're ready to capitalise when (if!) a subjective incident goes our way some day To stay in the league we probably need to create more, as I don't see four teams limping to south of 30 points at the moment, even if current averages suggest it. Believe Highgate's already made the excellent point that our opponents are enhancing their odds of winning dodgy calls, relative to our own output, and not because we're saints while they're sinners. We're 19th for shots, 19th for passes into the final third, 20th for passes into the penalty area, 19th for crosses into the penalty area, 20th for progressive passing in general, 20th for the dreaded xG for, and 19th for the dreaded xG against. We have less points than we should because of the Leicester debacle, but we've also taken chances well in the main and have put in some big saves. Some big misses, some outrageous goals, we're 10th for our shots-to-goals conversion rate and have slightly outperformed xG numbers in both goals scored and conceded. Compare that to Crystal Palace, who have scored 7 goals fewer than 'expectation' and are half as clinical as us currently, or Everton, who are 4 goals below 'expectation' and have been 40% less clinical than us, and it's hard to avoid the feeling that they've left more in the tank thus far than we have, so we need to raise our game further.

No, I mean the sort of EFFECTIVE dark arts, the type that actually gets us penalties & causes VAR enough confusion that they forget who they are & they forget who we are so they start allowing our goals (even if they shouldn't be) & disallowing goals conceded (even if they shouldn't)
