Newcastle Were Excellent. 17:26 - Dec 21 with 3691 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Better team for the entire game. Pressed brilliantly and carved us open at will. They could and should have won by a much bigger margin. Best team I’ve seen us play so far in the Premier League by some distance. The end.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Newcastle Were Excellent. on 00:21 - Dec 22 by FrimleyBlue | Of course you can counter it. By changing things. If you're then beaten fair play but we didn't change a thing. What was so high quality from Newcastle today to say we were outclassed? They just stood on us whilst we floated around in our 4 2 3 1. Waited for the left side gap to open up and boom in they went. That's not overthinking it was seeing things happening and wondering why we continued to play the exact same way. Even after a chappers timed injury delay. We carried on as before. Midfield didn't move. Shape didn't change. Passing wasn't any different. |
What was better about Newcastle? Let me see: Every single player of theirs was better than their opposite number. They were more skilful, by and large bigger, more physical, faster, better awareness of where each other was, had players who could manage and control the game, they were more fluid, had the ability to press us to virtually our goal line right up to when they took it easy on 60 mins, won all the knock downs and most of the 50/50s and passed the ball beautifully. Tactically yes, they were better at that too. But we could have played any formation you like, including the Red Arrows finest - the outcome would still have been the mother of all hidings. What we can take from this I really don’t know at the moment but the players do not lack heart or commitment. Stick with it, keep at it and good things will happen.

Newcastle Were Excellent. on 00:32 - Dec 22 by Blueschev | We couldn’t pass because they pounced on everything, they were stronger, sharper, quicker and more skilfull than us in every department, you can’t change that in game, that’s just reality. In a duel like that there’s nothing you can do unless the opponent is having an off day. Today Newcastle were on their game and we were second best. It happens. If 11 players who are better than us are playing to their maximum they will beat us no matter what we do, as was proven today. |
They had more midfielders for starters. Asking our deep lying midfielders to magically get through that was asking for trouble. We didn't do anything to change this problem. It's easy to say they were pressing. They were strong. Utd pressed us. We changed tactic after 20 minutes to move the utd midfield to where they couldn't hurt us. We didn't do anything today to counter any threat or to help us to create any threat of our own.

Spot on. We were beaten by a far superior side, what more is there to say? No lack of effort, just a lack of quality, which is completely understandable given where we’ve come from. Not one of our players would get near their starting 11, so we’ll have days like today. It’s a credit to our players and staff we haven’t been so comprehensively outplayed as we were today very often this season.

They were far better than Man Utd. Yes it’s easy to say they were pressing because they did. The whole time. They only eased off when the game was over and still cut through us with ease. Ok, we had players, key ones, that were poor today. But part of that was an inability to cope with a far better team. Newcastle are the best team I’ve seen at PR this season, including Liverpool who were held for an hour.
Newcastle Were Excellent. on 03:54 - Dec 22 with 389 views | Mercian | Isak is the second best striker in The PL and given Haaland's and City's current form he is currently the best. He did not seem to break a sweat today.
Newcastle Were Excellent. on 07:52 - Dec 22 with 317 views | Bluedandy | Well done Saudi Arabia United, what an achievement by OPEC's leading producer and exporter of oil. A crude lesson no less in the reality of Premier League nation state franchises. But let's not over indulge our praises, the Magpies are on a par with Villa and Man Utd. We played very badly and maybe, just maybe, McKenna got it tactically wrong. Still we only have to finish the season in 17th and that is still eminently achievable.
