Christmas Support Thread 00:50 - Dec 24 with 6065 viewsSwailsey

For anyone alone/struggling/anything else, hopefully this thread will show there are people who can relate and rally around.

I’ve been dreading Christmas this year. Exactly 12 months ago tomorrow I left the house to take what I thought would be my final walk. I’m still kicking around, but tomorrow will be hard, even though I’m lucky that I will be in the company of others.

Sending positive love and thoughts to anyone else who is finding things hopeless at this time of year. You’re not alone.

I would also like to thank the kind people who have rallied around or offered support to me on here over the past 12 months. It has really made a difference.

If all else fails, just watch this:

Happy Christmas to everyone reading this. I hope your day is as full as you’d like it to be or as calm as you can make it.

And to you mate.

This is such a good thread to read today - thank you. Makes me much more mindful of those behind the doors of those living nearby who may be quietly struggling.

Support, thinking of others, isn’t just for Christmas it should be a part of our daily lives.

You are right. As a certain character said in 1843:

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach.”

Indeed, although Christmas can be particularly tough for those on their own.

Well said, top man.

I've always enjoyed Christmas but think for some the after Christmas part can be hard as well after being surrounded with people and then somewhat of a void. Hope everyone one here has enjoyed and wish you all a happy new year!

You’re all extremely kind, thank you so much.

I actually didn’t intend for this to be about me specifically, but rather creating a place for anyone else who is struggling to post/share as I know times can get tough. It probably came across a bit more ‘look at me’ than intended!

Your post didn't come across that way at all.

Exactly, the void after Christmas can be very tough. Football can be incredibly important at this time of year to fill that void.
