Should Jorgensen have been sent off? 06:39 - Dec 31 with 1627 viewsMercian

It was not a bad foul but it did look to me as it was a denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity which I thought was an automatic red card.

I felt the ball was going out of play to be honest, which may have swayed the decision…but that also calls into question whether it was a pen anyway!?

There is a double jeopardy rule in place so if the player who has committed the foul does so with a genuine attempt to get the ball, there can't be a penalty and a red, even if it is DOGSO.

I don't think there was a clear scoring opportunity - it was 50/50 whether delap was going to make that ball, and then it would either require a great finish from a tight angle or a check back on the byline.

Agree the ball was going out but It doesn't stop that being a foul.

For a denial of a goalscoring oppurtunity in the penalty area where there is a genuine attempt for the ball, a yellow card replaces a red. As their keeper didn't get a card presumably the ref agreed that Delap wouldn't have got to the ball.

It was a def penalty, but not a chance it was a red card.

But Delap was getting up again, had slowed the ball already, and would have been in control again but for Jorgensen's trailing leg catching him and sending him tumbling. Maybe the Ref or the VAR official thought that Jorgensen's trajectory made contact inevitable but it looked pretty intentional to me.

Having watched it 'live' on TV I feared theat VAR would overturn the decision. From the refs angle it looks a clear penalty, from another there appears to be minimal contact, if any.

Never a red as the ball was running out anyway. Hopefully our luck has changed.

I think double jeopardy applies only to a keeper.

VAR actually made it look softer, but in real time I was really hopeful he'd send him off because, Ipswich.

It was just nice it went our way after tens of decisions not, so far this season.
