Any sparkies?? 20:23 - Jan 3 with 1196 views | leftback | Downlights, had a bathroom fitted about 6 years ago and the sparky installed new spotlights, a couple have failed recently and got round to change the bulb today and it appears they are a complete unit that needs to be replaced, txt the electrician to see what he recommends-£85 to change 2!🤯
Any sparkies?? on 22:23 - Jan 3 with 1018 views | HairBearBunch | Yeah lot of them are complete LED units now. £85 is fair imo - cost of two lights, van costs going to fetch them and getting to your place. time going to get them, driving to your place, doing the job, driving home again etc etc.
Any sparkies?? on 22:56 - Jan 3 with 952 views | Oldsmoker | Fully fitted by a professional - £85 is fair. As an OAP I can phone OAP friendly traders who charge a decent rate and go the extra mile for someone who fought in both world wars like me. If you're not of pensionable age then get your mum or grandma to pretend it's their place.

That is nuts. Should be replaceable. For the sake of the environment if nothing else. Sounds like a cynical cash grab to me.

Mental, I can’t believe I had them installed instead of normal spotlights which can just have bulb changed, how often are the likely to fail as he’s installed about 20 in my kitchen extension as well😬

Any sparkies?? on 08:45 - Jan 4 with 683 views | EdwardStone | Bathroom lights tend to be sealed against ingress of moisture, prob why you can't get to swap the bulb Easy enough to change it yourself if you're a bit practical Get yourself voltstick/lifesaver https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-non-contact-voltage-detector-pen-1000v-ac/3222g Some connectors https://www.screwfix.com/p/ideal-32a-3-way-lever-connectors-40-pack/287jk Replacement lights ( make sure you get the correct IP rating for the location, all bathroom lights are not created equal), step ladder, worklight, cutters, wirestrippers etc. Attach a short "tail" of new cable to each new light to save time and faff while you are up the ladder, turn off the relevant lighting circuit at the consumer unit, check the cable is not live with voltstick, replace lights, tidy up and job's a good'un I reckon £85 to get your Sparky in is a very fair price tbh
