Ben Doak - KOA Podcast… 20:50 - Jan 17 with 7744 viewsKieran_Knows

… Stuart Watson mentions that Town still very much interested in Doak and that we’re at the stage of rather than making incremental bids, it’s a case of ‘who blinks first’, with Town asking Liverpool to name their price - which they haven’t yet done.

Wonder if we go big for Doak and whoever it may be, a striker on loan for the rest of the season.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Does feel like we’re assembling a Championship All Stars squad. Which I guess makes sense in some ways. If we don’t sign a striker in this window our lack of intent will be clear.

Lack of intent? Bollox.

You may have not realised this, but buying a quality striker is not a case of going to the supermarket, and having you pick off the shelves.

Intent we do not lack. Availability and competition yes.

Is it an obvious 3rd choice though? Wasn't there talk of Delap being signed to play wide right? So with a 3rd decent number 9 option, that would maybe allow that type of flexibility.

If the remit is better than Al-Hamadi but not better than Hirst then I think it is an obvious 3rd choice. You could very easily end up with someone that is only marginally less out of their depth than Al-Hamadi.

...in this league.

If we are gonna spunk £20m on him, it is purely for potential longer term financial gain.

I'd rather we spunk the money on a decent CF.

Tend to agree with this. But the counter to that is, I guess, which £30m forward would come to us at the moment?

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

That's a hard sell though. "Come in and be 3rd choice striker". The sort of player that is going to be happy with that is unlikely to be one that is going to make much impact for us. We need someone that is at Hirst's kind of level at a minimum or someone that can really push Hirst at least. Otherwise it's pointless.

I think it is going to be very hard to get a deal done for someone though. You look around the PL and Ferguson looks like the only one that may move. Latte Lath the pick of the Championship but looks like he is off to the US. Not even many options at that level you'd back to make the step up.

Most championship strikers would be happy to do that, especially if they’ve not played in the PL previously. Double money etc.
