Arguably the least technically gifted of the front players but I don't think anyone (other than a fully fit Omari) offers as much as him defensively.
I also don't think any of them offer the same movement ahead of the ball/in the box as him. Was very noticeable against Brighton we basically allowed 3 defenders to mark Delap without having to worry about anyone else. [Post edited 20 Jan 10:09]

I, too, think we missed Szmodics yesterday. He's just such an annoyance, getting in opponents' faces and causing them trouble. A little bit of his disruption might have got us at least a goal and maybe broken up an attack or two.
Albeit I thought Jack Clarke had a decent game, apart from that pass. |  |

Agree on this. No way we set up with a five against Southampton. Equally, nobody is better than Axel at playing the hybrid RCB/RB role, so he negates that a little anyway. |  | | |

Think especially obvious against Brighton when Burns got down the right a few times and put balls into good areas in the box with cut backs etc.
We needed a Chaplin or a Szmodics there, someone who can sniff a goal out and is an excellent first time finisher.....that comes alive in the box and naturally just hits the target. We don't have many 'shot monsters' in our team and could do with another one.....Enciso would be good in that regard but not sure how he fits in |  |

I personally thought it was crazy not starting with Broadhead. Broadhead caused Chelsea problems with the space he was creating, he created both goals against Fulham, and was the only player causing Brighton problems. If you don't play your inform players, you will definitely lose. |  | | |

I suspect that the decision to not play him is more to do with him returning from injury. |  |
