stuff from today 20:47 - Feb 1 with 2268 views | nodge_blue | 1. Muric. I watched him in warm up not look very sharp and let a couple of softies in. Said to my neighbour he doesn't look sharp. He's totally shot. Im not a goalkeeper and maybe his height doesn't help, but he never looks properly set to me. I mean the whole bent knees, arms out front kind of position, on your toes. Maybe someone who knows keeping can say otherwise. Walton out for a while and Muric looking gone mentally. The ball under his foot only saved by being wide of the goal. 2. Enciso. Terrific. Maybe over did it a little at times but that's a premier quality player. Fee paid by Brighton 11 mil. Highlights our poor recruitment. This guy was surplus to current Brighton requirements but our best player by a mile. 3. We are all gutted right now. Let's face it, we are going down and the rest of the season could be really painful. But somehow we have to get to the end of it and prepare for next season. This squad should be very competitive in championship and it's important we don't drag the whole feeling down so much that we go into the next with no momentum and a down feeling. 4. Hope Ashton has done his sums right cos I wouldn't bank on a huge resale value for many. I still love Hutch but what premier club is going to say he's a must buy for next season. He lost possession far too often today. 5. We have lost a lot of identity. We don't know our best 11 and we don't know our best way of playing. It's all looking a disjointed mish mash. And so soft at the back. We cough up chances every game that are far too easy for the opposition to convert. [Post edited 1 Feb 20:48]

stuff from today on 21:20 - Feb 1 with 1994 views | ArnieM | It’s disjointed because McKenna is making so many changes to the team every game. He also only ever makes a like for like substitution but never actually CHANGES anything when it’s crying out for a change of approach : formation. McKenna is showing his inexperience …… or is it stubbornness ……. Or inability, to adapt and change to a game situation?

stuff from today on 21:27 - Feb 1 with 1893 views | Bluecasp | Some fair observations. Think it is becoming increasingly clear that one of our biggest issues is the quality of our midfield. Morsy has struggled in recent months and was always going to be too slow for the Prem. Cajuste is decent but can only realistically play for about 70 mins, so we miss him as soon as he is subbed. Taylor wasn't even starting many games in the Championship and is not Prem level. Pep has destroyed Phillips and the only club that will probably get a tune out of him again regularly are Leeds, if he ever rejoins them. And injuries and age are catching up on Massimo. Surprised we haven't tried to bring in a new central midfielder.

Clearly Phillips was signed in the belief he would be our PL midfield dominator with a few games. And quick return to form. But for whatever reason that hasn’t happpened. As an aside in warm up the Southampton keeper was practising long kicks and hit a poor one deep into our bench players warming up in front of the west stand. Phillips saw it coming. Casually took a pace to hi right, cocked his right leg at an angle to hit the ball on the outside of his right foot, over his shoulders into the arms of a town guy standing 3 metres to his left. That’s a volley off a ball coming half the length of the pitch and a great height. I looked at that and thought that’s some skill and control of a football. It’s easy to forget we are watching players at the highest level of the game. [Post edited 1 Feb 21:40]

Let’s see shall we. In a team not flying, or high on confidence, I doubt he’ll show up.

There was one loose ball in the first half that he would usually thrive upon, sliding in taking ball and man but instead he just waved a leg out and lost the duel. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As I’ve said on here before, it’s a football forum where fans offer opinions. If you don’t like reading them then don’t bother but there’s a lot of opinions offered up and you clearly are wasting your time here.
