"Thick as Thieves" - Baby. (n/t) on 22:35 - Feb 18 by Lord_Lucan
No, you are not a saddo.
We grew up in the best days baby. Teds, Rockers, Mods, Punks, Skins, etc - even New Romantics, Rude Boys and Football Casuals.
Kids over the last few decades have let the side down big time.
No new youth movements and no revivals.
All they want to do is work from home, get outraged and call themselves Sue.
Well how do you do! Sometimes you just gotta get mad and refuse to take it.
Edit - what's goimg on with these youtube links.

What a time to be around. The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Adicts, Stranglers The Ruts, Public Image, Specials, Madness and so many more. Yet I never saw The Jam live, which I regretted then and now as they were so good. Plus following the finest football team the world has ever seen all over the country. I don’t like being old but Those really Were The Days!

Some mixed reviews of Sound Effects but it's a toss up between that and All mod cons for my favourite Jam LP. I don't know if there are many drummers around, but I always loved the press rolls Rick plays at the start of this track. It's maybe only 2 or 3 seconds, but I just love to hear it everytime. Very clever, understated but classy at the same time. It's generally a great song too.
Go well Rick.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Not a huge amount of love for The Gift but the title track is fantastic. A nice reference to The Small Faces' Don't burst my bubble during the middle 8 too.

I share those sentiments and couldn't have put it better myself.

Every song reactivates a teenage memory for me or a timeline in my life. Loved them then, love them now, once a Mod, always a Mod, still putt putt around on my little vespa today.

….silver 1968 LI 125.
It was my pride and joy.
I crashed it one Sunday morning at Rettendon, near where the “Essex Boys” got shot.
Ended up selling it for spares. Sad day.

...previously a PX 125, which sadly rusted away, now a simple Vespa 5o Primavera due to my maturing years and my desire to hang onto a dieing culture. Will never forget Wembley farewell tour when Weller lost his breath singing Tube Station and the audiance picked it up...mind blowing at the time. Now going on Amazon to order the Rick Buckler biography I have just seen mentioned on another platform.

Incidentally, the son of the previous owner of the house I live in was a Jam fan, as evidenced by the large bit of graffiti on the internal garage wall which mirrors that on the cover of their first album. I've never sought to remove it.

Just found an old grey whistle test set
Love watching these, why aren’t there programmes with bands like and raw like this anymore, or am I just an old saddo?
I wish the BBC would repeat all the Old Grey Whistle Tests in chronological order on BBC4 in a similar way to what they've been doing with Top of the Pops. They edit a Whistle Test song clip here and there into their music compilation programmes but I'd love to see the whole shows.
