I always think of Muhren in long sleeves, - but when was the last season anyone wore a long-sleeved shirt in action for Town (goalkeeper apart?). (I guess the reason nobody wears them now is only that they're easier to tug than the 'arm-warmers' they favour?)
"Adidas stopped supplying their tier 2 teams with long sleeves in around 2015, including the likes of Scotland (who were relegated from tier 1), Wales, Northern Ireland and club sides like Ipswich, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion. This initially resulted with in-house attempts at creating long-sleeved shirts by Ipswich and WBA for the likes of Brett Pitman and Joleon Lescott respectively. Ipswich took the sleeves from a Stripes 15 teamwear shirt and stitched them on."
Conversely remember the beat wearing short sleeves in Lodz! Yes i've never bought the 81 pinstripe retro shirt in any form, but if i did i'd like the long sleeve version a la Arnold.
Brett Pitman often wore a short sleeved shirt in the first half and long-sleeved one in the second when starting games.
Here he is scoring in a long-sleeved shirt in the second half of a game, but I don't think he started this one
Absolutely comical giving away of a penalty by Cole Skuse here too.
I'm not watching all the YouTube highlights of that period to find one where he's visible in both the first and second half.

Could be the winner. I remember Bowyer sometimes hiding his muscly arms and Peters probably did too during his loan spell, on the nippier days. That was in 2012 and base layers were very much the norm before then.
That being said, Casemiro is wearing proper long sleeves in 2025 and they were aplenty in the Madrid CL derby. Probably less baggy than they once were though.

Thats mad we had to make custom long-sleeves for players with our Adidas contract! Those template kits they had us in were some of the ugliest things we have worn too!

I saw a "youtube short" recently in which La Liga players were doing their best to avoid stepping on club badges, the ones which adorn football stadium passageways and whatnot, juxtaposed with PL players paying no notice and walking normally. So I wonder if this is another "respect gesture" that we're not worried about over here, official shirt > shirt and base layer, or if there's a commercial aspect to it maybe (buy both if you want to look the part in all weathers).
