100% agree with his overall point, although I wouldn't put Bellingham in that category. I think this also contributes to the worse atmospheres, it's hard as a fan to get yourself going when the football in front of you is so tactical and controlled.

He makes some great points and love Didz. I totally agree that football is less enjoyable to watch with the robotic element and you do see less pure footballing talents as they have been kind of trained out of talent.
There are still moments of individual brilliance but they are just made to look repeatable and less like a freak exhibition of talent.
Call me a luddite but hand on heart, I think the average Championship game is more enjoyable to watch than the average prem game.

Football today is sterile. Totally kvercozches with minimal spontaneity. PL, frankly is boring.
Firstly, to pluck Adel Taraabt's name from nowhere and put it alongside Gazza and George Best, is incredible.
Harsh on Bellingham.
Overall he's got a point of course, but it just me or is there simply more scrutiny by fans than there ever has been? Surely because of social media there is. There is more pressure to win, people are obsessed by winning a trophy, they use it as a stick to beat other clubs with and even their own club. It's quite tiresome really.
The point is that clubs have to find the best way to win, and that isn't by having 11 mavericks, or even a few. They have to make sure they are the best tactically, run further, do more sprints etc etc.
The maverick element comes from the dugout now, Pep is arguably a maverick in what he's done to coaching. So Didzy is right, but I think it's almost been forced on clubs by supporters.

There's a lot to pick out of that.

The PL nowadays is watched globally, and the majority will support the 'successful' clubs, and simply expect these teams to win trophies. 15+ years ago, it was more about entertainment.

Bring back Lee Trundle, I say.
no spontaneity or personality shown. Everything is coached to a set structure. So formulaic. We are as well. But at least you don't mind so much if you are actually winning the odd game.

We all want maverick’s in the team but when they lose discipline or some trick doesn’t work out you will then hear thousands of fans getting angry at them.
Ages ago there was a thread about Robin Friday - supposedly full of character and personality - but very few fans would want him in their side. Far too unreliable.
Players all have personality - daft to suggest that they don’t. But if they do something mildly unrobotic, like cupping their ears to the oppositions fans, those fans will get all offended.
Premier league players, mostly attacking ones, show spontaneity all of the time - taking on players, curling on a shot from twenty yards etc. But they are all so quick and physically strong then that in itself looks quite robotic. Not like the 70s and 80s

Tbf he was making a point about total mavericks not necessarily about world class talent. Taraabt's name in that sentence is perhaps not unreasonable.
