I wonder how KM feels right now 17:13 - Apr 6 with 1529 viewsgtsb1966

especially from a personal point of view. Does he take it personally or does he see it as work in progress for both him and the club and it was always the likeliest outcome this season. I'm assuming everyone we bought was with his say so . We're going to be very well equipped for the championship even when we lose 3 or 4. I reckon he'll be here to give it another go.

The club has been built around him and for him, it's his if he wants it

Has his stock fallen at all, for me I would have more questions about him now as a PL side than I did last year.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Although he'd never admit it in public, I suspect he wished he took the Brighton job. He'd likely now be a top 10 Premier League manager

Think his stock might well have taken a bit of a knock hopefully just for a while for me he bought too many players into the squad that where not good enough without the ball, playing the likes of Clark, Hutch and Burns together early doors was a mistake and signing Phill at Xmas was not what I thought we needed .

He’s a better manager for the experience of this season but his stock is probably lower in some ways. Not for any sensible board who can see his quality but I imagine that trying to sell him to say Spurs fans this summer would be tougher than it would have been a year ago. A few bad results at a new club and the fans would be on his back.

I can’t remember exactly what he said but I remember listening to him being interviewed on the pitch after the Huddersfield game at the end of last season and got the impression he was on his way. I think he let his heart rule his head with his decision to stay and if he was completely honest may now view it as a mistake. I hope I’m wrong. I still think he’s a great manager and I want him to be be for a long time yet.

I've been a sponge when it comes to his pressers.
His message has been single-minded and consistent.
It's a project and he's bought into it.
Next season everyone is one year older and more battle-hardened which is part of the evolving project. We go again yet stronger.

The only thing I would criticize him for was recruitment in the PL.
We needed players who can control the ball, keep it and then pass to a blue shirt.
We needed a bad-assed PL experienced midfield.
We recruited play-makers rather than destroyers.
Hindsight huh.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

I certainly don't disagree with any of this, but where would those recruits have come from, and been willing to come at sensible prices (since we appear to be making every effort to keep within PSR).

I doubt it. He saw the challenge, he took the challenge. Nothing wrong with that. We’ve not been good enough, but they’ve given it a go. They cared and so did KM and I’ve seen managers and players here who didn’t. He gets the club.

I’ve no problem at all with failing on that basis. You learn your lessons, you fight, you don’t give up and do better next time. That’s the aim. For me, those not buying in to that from Ashton down to the gateman, move on. In adversity, you learn about people. Strong or weak? Committed or not?

Same applies to supporters - there’s always Soccer Saturday with that roadrunner lookalike idiot that presents it and following Chelsea or Man City if you like the PL hype. Everyone has a choice.

But as someone who has seen a lot of our club’s past way back to black and white, mostly poor but some phenomenal highlights, I’ll stay with the committed. It’s my club, as it was my dad’s and his father’s. I love it and make no apology for that.

Up or down……

For someone as measured as KM, I really don't think he could have many complaints (inwardly or otherwise) at this stage. He knew the opportunities available, knew the challenge here, made the decision to stay. The scenario that has played out since was the overwhelmingly most likely one. Not much has changed or played out unexpectedly.

He could have only stayed with the belief that relegation, in the context of his journey and the gap between Championship & Premier League, would not badly damage his reputation. In return, he's had a season to learn the ropes with a good-will and patience that he wouldn't have gotten at a new club.

I suspect there will still be a cluster of sides in the bottom 2/3rds of the Premier league that would still be curious to see what he could do with better resources. I think it would've taken a midtable finish to be in any serious conversations about a Spurs / United type club.

He said words such ‘the club’ rather than ‘we ‘.
