The pair have looked awful.

But neither are awful players. They are just young players who stepped up in to the premier league playing with lots of other players doing the same.

Writing them off based on that is very very silly. Have some patience and perspective.

Jack Clarke will be 25 this year, he’s had 1 PL move at any early age that didn’t work out, he hasn’t made the step up again this time.

Philogene younger, but didn’t make any stamp at Villa, and has looked really poor here.

Surely they were signed to help us compete in the PL? Neither have done that all.

I’m sure they are talented players, but sometimes the shoe doesn’t fit - both look like really poor fits for us - at a really expensive cost.

I actually think Clarke has got something about him, he's improving and will continue to do so I think.

Undecided on Billy Jean.

We need some units, especially if we go up again, we don't have the power for the PL.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I agree, I think Clarke will be a major asset in the Championship and I can't see us losing many if any of our attacking midfielders (unless we chose to)
Hutchison is perhaps our highest rated but his 3 goals and 2 assists are hardly going to have the PL teams offering us huge prices for him and I doubt we'd sell him for a loss.

The only signings we'll need are replacing those we lose, so a striker and at least 1 midfielder. Perhaps someone will take Davis or maybe O'Shea or Tuanzebe. However I think we have enough cover for the latter 2 with those we have out on loan.

For £20m was hoping he’d be a major asset in the PL to be honest.

Clarke will be a beast in the championship, as will Philogene, Sarmiento is quite some way off those guys

£20m was a major assest in the PL 4 years ago. Times have moved on.

Sounds like what you say after signing £20m flops.

A.Elanga, I.Ndiaye, I.Sarr all moved in the similar ball park.

We failed in the market, it’s as simple as that, for the money we spent, we failed drastically.

Those players were signed from Man United and Marseille, with top flight experience and probably on big wages. A completely different market to Clarke and Philogene.

I’d ignore Sarmiento’s performances for Burnley this year, it’s so tough for attacking players to thrive in that system.

I wouldn’t mind bringing him back at all. Chappers and Szmodics will be competing to play in the ten role but when Omari goes we won’t have a ball carrier there who can also play wide, which McKenna likes to have as an option.

Wasn’t Philogene from from Champions League Villa, and Hutchinson from Chelsea.

If you want to find excuses to justify, then that is ok - but that’s all they are, excuses.

Jaidon Anthony, Josh Brownhill and Marcus Edwards have all looked pretty good in the most part.

Sarmiento has been pretty poor whenever he has featured for Burnley from the start or off the bench. It is tough because we all love the guy but he was not capable of starting games here, he was nowhere near good enough.

Elanga had played near 50 games for United including european football and Sarr 100+ games of top flight football.

Hutchinson had made 1 top flight appearance off the bench and Philogene less than 15 top flight games mainly off the bench.

It really isn't hard to work out ?
