Hillsborough Law supporters... 17:19 - Apr 8 with 1084 views | bluelagos | So Govt. proposal seems to have been taken back for "reflection" Campaigners are keen that the law is as promised in the party manifesto - namely that they criminalise police who lie and mislead public inquiries and inquests as multiple SYP did with impunity after Hillsborough in their cover up. So if you can click the link (which is a letter to write to your MP) - takes all of a minute but will help keep the pressure on the govt whoever your MP is. Few years back I spoke to him on the issue of the IOPC / CPS ruling that they would only prosecute the "controlling minds" with regards to the police cover up - and not the multitude of police who lied at the inquests. (I was unaware that lying at the inquests wasn't even a crime at the time) He struck me as "nice but dim" - spoke well, presented well, but thick as tbh. He tried to tell me that because the family victims in NI had had to accept IRA prisoner releases - I should just accept that it's ok if lying policemen are not charged if it's for the greater good. Was like - wtf are you on about? Thick as mince - albeit he's one of the better ones.

Yeah, Grenfell, Post office scandal and infected blood campaigners are all on board wanting to change the law to help prevent cover ups.

And here's hoping it works! I'm still shocked that all those involved in Grenfell (directly or indirectly) have not faced justice. One hopes that lessons would have been learnt from Hillsborough, but seems not. But, as with Grenfell, the fat cats seem to be fine and those at the lower end of the spectrum lost lives, homes, families and have to fight for any justice against a system that doesn't want to know they exist.

Is just never ending. Grenfell I think it's like 2 years before they even think of putting files to the CPS. Justice delayed... One reason for the criminal justice system is to deter other's from doing criminal acts. Well that only works if you actually prosecute people!

It is never ending and completely against the people who need the justice. As I said, it's loaded against those who can afford representation and delay tactics, which in the case of Grenfell is the Council and Hillbsborough the police force. Justice delayed is a kick in the teeth to those who lost - those who committed the offences have been on holiday, working, living life etc...not those who lost their lives as you say, if you dont prosecute and hand down proper justice, it will happen again and again
