If you were going to spend 90 days in Europe while working remotely, where would you go?

Let's just say that personal circumstances have recently taken a significant turn and I'm currently very free, as well as in a situation where the 12-month rental lease on my apartment runs out in a month.

I've always wanted to spend some significant time living abroad, and I believe that 90 days would satisfy that. It's something I feel like I need to get out of my system, now being in my early 30s, before potentially deciding (and hoping to be content with) to settle down within the UK.

Not sure whether to look to spend 90 days in one place or to experience several different places. However, I wish to feel like I 'lived' somewhere; 90 days is probably about right for that.

Edit: I'd like to spend as little money as realistically possible (within reason).

If you paid homage to Sir Bobby and spent 30 days in Barcelona, Lisbon, and Porto you wouldn’t be disappointed.., Portugal especially is very welcoming. Best of luck, enjoy the journey wherever you go.

Budapest is fairly cosmopolitan and cheap, might be more interesting than Prague which is touristy, but another place that is pretty international and has working digital nomads.
Malta is a good spot, but not as easy to travel out to other countries as the first two.
Barcelona is an interesting place, probably where i'd go for a long time, just love the culture there.
Sweden, Norway would be good but are they expensive compared to the above?
Greece, another option i'd strongly consider, Cyprus too. But maybe too South for you.
To avoid the heat it might be Scandanavia. Or just get a campervan and hole out on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
Choices Choices. Do post an update in a month or when you do it!

If anyone ever even thinks about suggesting that another bloody campervan on the Isle of Skye would be a good idea I'm going nuclear...

Bilbao all day long - ticks all those boxes, not too hot. A "young" city - loads of Basques/Spaniards there studying - plus you can get a footie fix. Sea and mountains on yer doorstep - plus culture.

A great shout, as is Santander. Santander is closer to the beach, possibly cheaper and with great access to the Picos de Europa. Excellent, affordable food and a very friendly and beautiful city - go there before it becomes very trendy.

I’ve done a 3 month tour with the family - Barca, around Spain to Grenada & back up north via Toledo, southern France (Cahors country and the across east to Provence), Corsica, Italy (Piza, Florence and then exploring Umbria); back home through Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. It was great. You could probably do a tour and work remotely by picking up local data SIMs in each country. The only trouble with a tour is that you’re not anywhere long enough to feel part of it.

I like the sound of northern Spain (we’re off there on our holiday this year), but there are so many good places. Stockholm is superb if you want to head further north; you’ve then got options to pop over to Norway and tour the fjords for a week or two. Depends what floats your boat.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Spanish cities just come up again and again, and I agree. Clean, no poorly executed modernism mixed in. Spacious, wide streets, vibrant (this!!!), greenery, relaxed. How have they got it so right compared to England and France?

At this moment in time their cities just seem to be... Streets ahead 😄

I've been to Barcelona, Madrid, Seville. (Ibiza Town and Tenerife and Fuertaventura also) Looking forward to more as you folks have listed.

The answer to that question is complex and I have a theory about it which probably covers the main reasons but I would run the risk of being unpopular here should I express it.

Peace loving humanitarian that I am, let's just say that the reasons are political.

Bilbao, Barcelona, Lisbon, Prague, Dublin...

Some expensive places there. Dublin is ridiculous.

Tirana is affordable and the city centre has plenty of great bars and restaurants. Albanians have a bad reputation around the world but they are very welcoming and I never felt unsafe there. Alternatively Vlore, if you want to be near the beach.

My son-in-law is Albanian - the hardest working, most honest, likeable person I know. Albania is growing up fast so get out there and enjoy its virtues before it too is dragged into the quagmire of modern tourism.

Otherwise - I'd choose Switzerland, Stockholm or Reykjavik. Certainly don't want to bake in the Mediterranean.
