Migrants really should adopt 08:21 - Apr 16 with 1525 viewsbluelagos

the local culture.

Just thinking of some of the things I've seen up close.

Migrants speaking only their native language and making no attempts to learn the local language at all.

Migrants hanging about in their own private clubs literally excluding the locals from membership.

Migrants not going to local drinking holes instead hanging out at private parties reminiscing all night about life back home.

Migrants sending most of their money home with no intent to settle or invest in the local economy.

Migrants continuing to eat their own food, even when it's all imported and costs 5 times the cost of local food. Guess they prefer their home food more than considering food miles.

Migrants living in ghettos where 90%+ of the homes are similarly populated with little locals other than say when a tradesman is needed.

Anyhow, enough of how the Brits live abroad...

I had some clients once decided to up sticks and move to a lovely little village in the south of France.

They came back 6 months later complaining no one spoke English and there 'wasnt a shop like tesco'

I asked if they had thought to learn French and was told 'why should we, whenever we've been abroad before everyone spoke English and we thought the locals there should have done the same/

I have friends who go overseas and try and live the life they live at home. Often hear people on UK radio stations listening from abroad, while being near the pool. What is wrong with these people. Although as we speak emmigration out of the UK is very high. O how I yearn for a cheaper living.

It's a kind of weird fetish to want to be somewhere else and yearn for being at home. Nothing better than trying local food, culture and attempting dialect.

They're not migrants, they're expats. Maybe the immigrants arriving in the UK just need to remarket themselves as expats.

Expats as in 'once were patriots, yet are patriots no more'?

Could also call them 'not-so-Proud Boys'?
