Had a terrific season in League one and has just won the supporters young player of they year.

You'd have to say it's clear he needs to now play in the champ as the next logical step. I would imagine he'll get a full pre-season with us and I'm desperate to see him get a shot but his best position is where we are incredibly strong. Even if 1 or 2 leave how does he get game time ahead of 3 from Broadhead, Clarke, Chaplin, Sammie, Philogene, Omari, Burns, Ogbene? You'd even have to throw Taylor in there. I think 1-2 Max might move on.

If he was a CM behind it would be much easier. I don't think he is a left back either even though he can do a job. Boniface I think will be ahead there now as a natural LB and fighting it out with Townsend if Davis goes.

It will be very interesting to see what happens.

Absolutely wild to see people suggesting he should be told the CM position is his in a season it is imperative we go straight back up. It's a lovely thought but there is no time for sentiment or learning on the job. He will either be loaned or be a squad player (and i'm not sure why he'd accept this after the season he's had) in my opinion

I might have missed a post but haven't seen anyone suggest that. Aren't people saying be good for him being given a chance to fight for a place and a squad place? Having a pathway for young players is completely normal and essential. It would be something like seeing if he is ready to step up instead of Luongo in squad for example. If so that's a natural refresh.

How highly do we rate Humph, could he be used in a deal to bring Kone this way?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I did though slightly stopped short of that.

On the assumption he is the player he promised to be and on the back of a good L1 season, if he looks the part in pre season, tell him he’s in and it’s for him to show he’s undroppable. In other words an opportunity. Why not? I don’t buy the big step up line. A lot of our players did that, why not CH?

Would say Humphreys has better pedigree and potential than Kone so that would be a very odd thing to do. Kone has gone right off the boil under new manager and completely unproven at level above. Not convinced on Kone. A lot to do to step up though of course he's got some decent attributes. I wouldn't want to pay more than £1 mil for him and no chance they let him go for that.

Not a chance in my opinion other than utility if injuries. Not his position. Not going to have square pegs in round holes where not needed.

He’s not good enough to play ‘his position’ but it seems clear McKenna rates him highly enough to want him in the team somewhere

Yeah I'm happy to be proven wrong but don't see it either.
Morsy and Luongo got through so much defensive work last season, it was a huge part of why the team worked. Cam doesn't have that in him. Very tidy and clever on the ball but we struggled to dominate games in league 1 when he played there.

I see the point here but one of our biggest flaws (maybe the biggest bar scoring) in the PL this year has been being tidy and clever on the ball. So many times we have turned over possession only to immediately give it back. I reckon about half of opponents' chances this year have come from this sort of scenario and it would be good to have one midfielder who reliable keeps hold of the ball. Let the other one be the reliable ball winner.

I'm not sure that does seem clear yet. McKenna likes him. Best trainer at the club but he has to earn a place with McKenna. If he's going to do that it will be in his best position. Not left back. I'd be amazed.

He played in 6 games total at LB out of necessity and two of those were coming on in injury time. Played a few cup games in midfield. Pretty much all other appearances for us in midfield and he's just has a season playing advance midfield/10 roles and we would have been selective on where he was going on loan and that he would be playing in more favoured positions.

He's versatile and filled a gap at LB. I just don't see him being a left back for us more frequently (unless again filling in). Boniface is a more natural left back and not much younger so I think more likely to have a pathway there as he looks a good prospect.
