Before Abramovich arrived at Chelsea in 2003, we had recorded more top-three finishes than them (6 vs 5).

And that's with Chelsea having joined the League over 30 years before we even turned professional and playing in the First Division 54 years before we did.

Just thought that was mildly interesting.

Think West Ham today and you've pretty much got it.


For much of their history, Chelsea were basically 'West Ham, only with even worse people supporting them'.

Nowadays of course, they're basically 'Man City, only with with even worse people supporting them'.

They were largely irrelevant until Abramovich came along. Awful stadium back then and truly terrible support; 19k average as recently as 1994
