Hutchison would be miles too good for the Championship 15:49 - May 3 with 6082 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

I don’t get the “he hasn’t done enough” crowd, compared to most of squad, eye test suggests he will surely get interest surely.

I think his ambition is what saw him want to play for Town in the Premier League rather than stay in Chelsea's reserves and be loaned out somewhere.

I agree his value to us is £35M+. Which Premier League clubs will spend that on him? For a promoted side that would be their marquee signing. We spent £20M or fractionally over as a maximum fee. I don't think Leicester or Southampton spent any higher. For a mid-table side that is the sort of fee they are spending for someone they expect to make an impact so would you expect him to play ahead of the players they have already in his position? I am not sure which clubs those are. That leaves a bigger club paying that for his potential and he is back where he was at Chelsea. Is that what he wants? I doubt it.

West Ham spent close to that on Summerville last summer and have drip fed him in. Brighton spent £30m on Minteh last summer, who'd barely kicked a ball in the Prem. There are countless examples. The market's shifted and £35m for a mid-table side is not a fee they need an instant return from. You're also about to see Omari put on a show at the U21 Euros this summer. I honestly think there'll be plenty of takers.

Summerville who spent a season at Hutchinson's age in the Championship after relegation scoring a goal every other game? West Ham paid less than £35M for him and that is your reason why there is no chance he will spend a season in the Championship with us? By the way the quoted fee was £25M which is quite some way short of £35M.

EDIT: Minteh had just spent a very successful loan in the Eredivisie scoring nearly a goal every other game at a younger age than Omari too.

Too good for the Championship? Not sure I would agree.
He has been inconsistent, which most PL clubs wouldn't want.
Another season with us and in the Championship will be very good for him. When we go back up, he will be far better than he has been this season. Experience is key in the PL.
Just for clarity, I don't think he has been a disappointment for us, just not shone bright enough for most to take a punt on.

I think some people expect too much from our players. Delap's been inconsistent but because he's a big number nine who's plundered goals, he's off. Omari's done very well in a poor side. Look how flat we've looked without him. Clubs higher up the league will be looking past his surface level numbers.

Anyway, time will tell. We can revisit this thread in late August!

Only 12 months ago none of those clubs saw him as a prospect at £20m, so what has changed in the last year to make them queue up at £35m (if that figure is even accurate)?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Omari and see his massive potential, but don't see that the last 12 months will have encouraged many/any established PL clubs to pay nearly twice what it would have taken last summer to secure him as a squad player.

He may have decided he wanted to stay here though, I know it's a big fee at £35m, Summerville went to WHU for £25m in comparison but OH has now had a season in the Prem with a struggling side so one of those Clubs could think his best is still to come, we'll see, hoping obviously they think like you do of course ;)

When we signed Philogene we were outside the relegation zone so I am not sure why we were "almost nailed on for relegation".

https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/competition:premier-league/daterange/fromda

I am quite sure signing Philogene was meant to help us to stay up albeit that it didn't work out like that. It is also interesting that is only £2M higher than the value Chelsea and Town set on Hutchinson in the summer. Has Hutchinson nearly doubled his value this season? I think probably not but I guess we will see by the end of August.

Philogene is only 23, has added 9 Premier League appearances and 2 goals since signing. Hutchinson, though younger, has added 27 appearances, 3 goals and 2 assists.

Cherry picking much? Those United goals lol, come on. This is out of the Muric book of data evidence.

If you look at the Hirst goal Saturday, in those 9 appearances, have you seen Philogene take someone on and get a cross in to create something like that yet? His goals against United, Chelsea and Spurs were very decent. Omari can take it passed a defender and put the ball in, he has a good finish on him. He can hold up play and win free kicks.

Do you remember him at Spurs away in say Delap's goal, or his performance second half when we were winning to keep the ball and win free kicks. Stats miss so much context sometimes. Cajuste doesn't have many assists but look how influential he is in turning and get us up the pitch.

FWIW I think Philogene will be fine for us once he gets going and likely have a very strong year next year and hopefully develop into a PL starter but that's a weird comparison to me. That you seem to be suggesting he's been more influential in less games?

Where are with Omari watch? Another game with no goals or assists! Those damn poor stats!

Despite putting balls in that provided big chances for Delap, Burgess and Hirst, as well as the Brentford keeper’s finger tip save onto the post.

Doesn’t even need to go by defenders with blistering pace, his twists and turns causes all sorted of problems. Convinced wide right is his best position.

People still confident of keeping him in the champ? Really can’t see it!

It’s not massively uncommon for teams in the championship (especially those with the benefit of parachute payments) to have players too good for the championship. Whether he stays or goes is going to depend on someone making an offer we can’t refuse (be it release clause related or otherwise)…I can imagine someone might go to £35m if that’s the magic number but equally PL teams might feel they can get better value elsewhere.

In short I really don’t know, but would hope there’s some sort of date range in the release clause that it expires in good time before the transfer window closes.

Yeah but then there was the other 75 minutes of being brushed off the ball and giving possession away in dangerous areas.
