Mings thrown under the bus by BBC again 20:11 - May 11 with 1966 viewsEdmundo

BBC headline on Sports page, "Very violent" Mings elbow fractured Scott Jaw.
Firstly, this is a quote from the Bournemouth boss.
Secondly, there's no confirmation of a fracture thus far.
Thirdly, Mings does have form but do any of us really think he is some kind of hatchet man? BBC have a history of analyzing his fouls and jumping to conclusions.

Well his arm was out straight for protection. It was just unfortunate that the other guy ran straight into it. Clumsy if anything on their both parts. But no way would I call it very violent or indeed just violent.

People can say what they like about whether the elbow w was intentional, but the reality is, only Tyrone knows. I say give hime the benefit of the doubt. Je is not a nasty player, generally.

If a Brentford player had done that to a Town player yesterday the vast majority of Town fans in the ground would be screaming for a red card.

Of course. Fans aren’t exactly known for being impartial.

This is the BBC quoting an impartial opposition manager .
Gutter press click bait. Will stoke up the haters.

to be fair to the Spanish manager, who is a good guy, violento in Spanish translates to violent, but violento can also mean great force or using great strength . It could just be semantics. I would not read too much into it.

That's akin to saying a boxer clumsily ran into his opponents outstretched fist. It looked more than a defensive/protective gesture to me, even the biggest masochist would struggle to get a broken jaw by just running into somebody's arm, I'm a fan of Tyrone but he was in the wrong here.

Just looked at it.

He is clearly shielding the ball the way all players do. He happens to be a lot taller than the opponent. Simple as that.

I speak as a 5ft 8 man who has been very annoyed at arms in the face whilst playing football against tall blokes. But I make exactly the same motion when shielding the ball.

How many jaws have you broken whilst just shielding the ball?

It was clearly a case of elbow hitting jaw rather jaw hitting elbow.

As an aside, one of Tyrone's best pals from his youth is a mate of one my brothers and he wouldn't be adverse to finishing his career at Town.

Hes not looking, its not an angled elbow, its not thrown.

Anyone who has played (and is vaguely competent) has made that exact motion to shield the ball

I've played which is why I'm saying it's a foul and Tyrone got away with one.

Edit - To be clear I'm not suggesting Tyrone intended to break the guys jaw but he definitely was putting one on him.

Ive played and Im saying that if the opponent does exactly the same motion to Mings, the arm is across his chest and a perfectly legitimate bit of shielding.

Its a natural shielding motion and nothing intentional imo.

But he didn't do the same motion as Tyrone, instead he got tw@tted in the chops and got his jaw broken. The elbow connected with his jaw due to the elbow being thrust in the direction of your man's jaw.

"your man"?

Interesting perspective.

You dont appear to be taking a blind bit of notice of what I am saying, so I will leave it there.

"Your man" is a common colloquialism, rather than implying the Bournemouth player or Tyrone is your man
anyhow we don't agree, never mind.

Seems to have a fair few things against his name tho, the stamp on the MUFC players face springs to mind.

That's because we've developed an over the top sense of injustice that has been growing the longer the season has gone on.
