I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Genuinely telling the truth here. At my place of work there was a Dick Lord and a Rod Sore a few years ago.

The garage I used to go to was run by a guy called Richard Hunter.

And he went by Dick by choice.

Mind boggling.

Epic.

It always amused me that if somebody had the surname De’Ath, they are called Deee Ath. No it’s not. It’s Death, as in snuffed it, fallen off the perch, dead. Live with it.

If that was me I’d fully own it by dropping the apostrophe and capitalise it. And also would ONLY WRITE IN CAPITALS, BECAUSE THAT’S HOW WRITERS ALWAYS PORTRAY DEATH SPEAKING IN NOVELS 💀

Although I suspect people would think I was weird and I’d get bored of it quickly.

Not an uncommon name on the western fringes of Suffolk in old census and parish records.

Ath is a place in (a French speaking area of) Belgium, so an immigrant family may well have been from ("de") there, hence De Ath, rather than Death. Was in a cloth trading area, so may well have had medieval links with East Anglia.

I always thought it was a made up name by Terry Pratchet, never realised it was a real surname

About 15 years ago my daughters were quite into a show called Once Upon A Time, which was a mish mash of fairy tales retold and modern characters who were drawn into this other world. It was quite good actually, the producer of the show was a bloke called Bryan W@nkum who is apparently quite a big name in Hollywood.

When HMRC still had a tax office I went there for some enquiry and ended up seeing a Mrs De'ath.
