One of my standout memories of him will be his cameo against Burnley, his second debut, in that first FA Cup leg in January 2023.
We were good in the game but I think on the whole it was about keeping Burnley out and keeping it tight. Luongo came on and almost immediately went on a surging run through the middle of the pitch and for a few seconds really got people off their seat.
He didn't look back did he? I can't remember when he got into the league side but it can't have been long after that. We haven't had many better partnerships than him and Morsy, they always seem to play very close together which I think has been a big attribute - neither man is ever too far away for a pass or to get stuck in and help out the other with a tackle or a physical battle.
Skinny ball playing teenager on loan from a PL academy in 2012, turned tough tackling and 'everywhere' midfielder today. And clearly a good, laid back bloke and a great team mate.
If anyone hasn't watched the 'Engine Room' interview on Town TV with him and SM I'd highly recommend!
I remember him in 2012. The fact he was from Spurs was exciting to me at the time but Mick obviously felt he needed blokes when he arrived.
He was waiting for ages but it was Forest Green in February 2023 where we saw him. Instant impact.
Such an intelligent player. Knew how to get the maximum out of himself. How many attacks started with him winning the ball.

The signing that got us promoted from league 1, near on ever present in the championship. The man deserves a fantastic reception, I love him. Massssssssimmmmmmooooooooo! I was gutted he left in 2012.
He came on shortly after half-time in a home game against somebody when we were 3-0 up. I posted on here that, although not match fit, he looked a class above. I only remember because someone replied saying something like it's easy to look good when you're 3-0 up. Missing the point, of course.
I loved the lunging tackles where he would somehow get the ball, but looks extremely unorthodox in doing it lol.
Great player.
It seemed so often last year, if I was listening to a game on TownTV, to hear Glenn Wheeler talking about an opposition attack and his voice getting higher and higher, and then relax and say 'brilliant sliding challenge from Luongo.' It happened about four times on the opening day against Sunderland, and felt like at least once each game after that.
I really think he's been a miss to the team this season; he adds much more defensively than Cajuste or Phillips, and that in turn gives Leif Davis more freedom to attack.
They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!
The Luongo/ Morsy partnership when compared to some of Town's historical midfielders isn't going to be the best, but given where Town was when they became our midfield I feel it's the most important ever. Yes that probably sounds slightly over the top, but when we required that drive, passion, skill to get us over the line and out of L1 their midfield partnership was key. Then they continued in the Championship, when many thought they wouldn't be at the Champ level.
